Reviving this thread with a quote, and a question. I play tenor (in Bb) with my ITM band, although I haven't had the nerve to bring it to an open session yet. Anything that I would normally play on C whistle, I can pick up the tenor and use essentially the same fingerings. Works especially well for ...

Uh, how hard is it to pick up the fingering to where you can play reels and jigs fast? The fingering looks funky. Does it jump up a 12th insted of an octave, like a clarinet more or less? Octave. But it's as hard to blow as a clarinet... I can only get one good octave, but it's much fun. I wonder i...

Speaking of Franco - did you hear about the latest French attempt to discredit Lance Armstrong and have his sixth Tour de France win vacated? The French police said when he went through security at the Paris airport after the race they found three foreign substances in or on him. Toothpaste, deoder...

One sure KNEW how to whistle without Slim's help
To Have and Have Not --the movie Last scene, when "Slim" (Loren Bacall) leaves "Cricket" the pianist* 1) Who's the musician starting the final theme on a pennywhistle ? (1944 Jazz and pennywhistle, how come it didn't strike me before?) 2) Does one know the name of the tune, and ...

Wow: the diacriticals even cover ingressive and egressive airflow. You could accurately transcribe that bit that John Cleese did on some talk show where he recited Shakespeare nonstop, simply speaking while he was breathing in instead of pausing for a breath. It was bizarre and hilarious. Bizarre a...
