Walt, I have a Pro D that I use for unamplified outdoor gigs and events because of the volume and the fact that it's basically impervious to temp/himidity and clogging. But for me, it's just too loud for most "unplugged" sessions and general use with other instruments indoors within a clos...

Hi Joannie, I was pleased to see that Roisin Dillon is now a part of CTL! I spent some time with she and her brother, Eammon, when their group was playing at an Irish Pub on Andrews Ave in Ft. Lauderdale a couple years back (can't remember the name). Love her fiddle playing and I'm sure she'll be a ...

Is her name Cinnamon Creeden? Here's a link to a fact sheet on one of his albums, An American Composer in Concert: Good find. Doing a search for Cinnamon Creedon, aside from being listed on the CDs, I see she's also listed as being with him in upcoming TV broadcasts. So that's her, folks. But as Ce...

I e-mailed Tim a couple of years ago asking what kind of whistle was used on "Water's Edge" and didn't get an answer, though I didn't really expect one. Is it really a Susato??? I can't believe it sounded so good, if it was...I haven't had the greatest experience with Susatos. :) Beautifu...

I've been in touch with Tim on a couple occasions in the past, and she plays a Susato. People may hate them, but they sound great through a sound system. In my travels, I've been amazed at how many Irish whistlers play Susatos. I actually like mine a lot and need to start playing it more at gigs. DR...

Our band is opening for Gaelic Storm, 2/26/05!

Well, after all the hard work, dedication, club gigs, weddings, parties, and lots 'o pints 'o Guinness every Thursday night (session night) at the local Irish pub, our band, SlipJig, has been asked to open for Gaelic Storm at WorkPlay in Birmingham, AL on Feb 26, 2005. Wow! We've only been together ...

I've been a professional photographer for over 30 years (now a graphic designer by profession), have had a 300D for about a year and can honestly say that overall, it's an excellent camera. I prefer Canon's CMOS sensor over CCD because of the lower noise and superb color/detail production. To me, im...

My aluminum NB has a slightly larger outside diameter than the brass NB, but their inside diameters appear to be the same. Other than this, I agree completely with DRC's impressions. Good call, Ridseard. Yes, it can be seen when looking directly at the ends of the whistles side by side, that both I...

I'm the one who started the thread: http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=20001 (DRC), couldn't decide....so ended up getting both the brass and aluminum black tip narrow bore Burkes. I certainly don't regret that decision. I have several other high end whistles, and I can tell you that the Burk...

I have a Sindt D, and have played a friend's Copeland Nickel D quite a bit...and am just wondering why you're wanting to trade. Just curious.

Heather, I feel compelled to comment again. Whenever I play a whistle, I look at my daughter's face for a reaction. This whistle is REALLY loud in the top half of the upper octave. I don't find it baby-friendly. No, this is definitely NOT a baby-friendly whistle, even if Ralph can find you one like...

Before ordering mine, I played one that sounded very nice but was extremely loud....definitely louder than my Susato...and required a pretty stiff blow on the high A & B notes. So I contacted Ralph and asked if he'd try and pick one out with a bit less volume than his "norm" and with l...

I don't know about any CFers, but the last time I was there (Aug '03), I saw a fantastic local Irish/Celtic band named Curfa. They were playing in a club on Andrews Ave, as well as one on Sheridan St (don't remember the names). I've seen them a few times and they're all fine musicians and wonderful,...
