There's an F set (probably the traditional F#) on ebay . One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is the finger spacing. I had an F set for about 2 years and I finally had to sell it (partially to fund my uilleannn obsession) but mostly because the finger spacing was impossibly tight for me. I simp...

I'm not a fast piper, nor a slow piper... I'm a half-fast piper.

I couldn't resist posting a pic from one of my fave STTOS episodes... so tell me, how long have you been playing the Vulcan?

http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/images/c/ca/VulcanDeathGrip.jpg But seriously, I found that I have to make a conscious effort to relax (seems contradictory, I know, but it works). I've read one bit of advice in another post that you want to be able to feel the chanter vibrating in your hands, and th...

Whoa! Excellent price for a nice looking set... (that Dow Bellows alone is worth the buy-it-now price)!

Baen, Here's a few from ebay... re: viola cases, if memory serves, a viola case is what Pat Sky uses for his full set (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Viola-15-15-1-2-Size-Hardshell-Case-No-Res-3_W0QQitemZ7413459334QQcategoryZ16225QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay...

Baen, Worry not! Lesser men than thee (i.e. myself) have done the same. I sold a Pat Sky practice set then later regretted it (then purchased a Daye halfset a few months later). Since you have a set of drones, you have a near perfect mechanism for practicing bellows technique. Just shut off the teno...

If you just want some good reading about the more technical side of piping, check out David Daye's enormous resource at www.daye1.com.

Another option: A bag from CJ Dixon with stocks tied in runs $195 and his bellows is only $225. His DIY bellows kit is only $115 right now. If you use the DIY option you could get into a bag/bellows/stocks combo for $310 US.

Andrew - Having a Daye halfset myself, I can empathize with your desire to make certain parts of the set more aesthetically pleasing. But consider this... by the time you purchase a bellows, bag, stocks and connecting tube from a pipemaker, you're looking at spending anywhere between $500-700 (depen...

Another giveaway is the presence of the mount and corresponding tube for a bass regulator (minus the actual bass regulator).
