Re: Can't read it wrong

Here's another clickbait headline: "[Photos] *****'s Famous Wife That Few Know About." (name obscured because I'm a gentleman; make what you will of the full stop). Do I need to pose the obvious question, here? I've just Googled the phrase "Famous Wife That Few Know About" (with...

Re: Hard blow versus soft blow

The soft head gives slightly fatter low notes, slightly easier high notes, and slightly greater flexibility of tone. Perfect, no? But the price is slightly less efficiency, meaning more air passes through the whistle as you play. For those sean nos airs with the long phrases I prefer the efficiency...

Re: Blowing machine

He briefly mentions the block, but doesn't go into detail other than saying "finish the top of the block". Since the top of the windway has been cut to a curve lying between flat and bore diameter, I'd expect the top of the block to be similarly tweaked, so that we end up with a constant ...

Re: Blowing machine

Terry, I've been trying to understand better about the shape of the windway, the plug, etc. I came across this video by Phil Bleazey and thought it might be meaningful to readers of this thread. Phil makes the ramp starting at about the 7 minute mark (that's where my link takes you), and then makes ...

Re: WTB Gilles Lehart, Delrin flute, or flute less than 1000.

The price seems fair for what seems like a well-used flute. Poor photography. https://www.leboncoin.fr/instruments_de_musique/2172822993.htm looks like just what you are looking for. Hi Everyone, first time posting here, i m living in Belgium and i wonder what you guys think about this Lehart and th...
