Re: Problems with Sam Murray. Need Contact Information
OMG, Doc! Add this to all the other threads about Mr. Murray! I was wondering why you had to pay him for flutes that you were selling FOR him. Not a big deal if you don't want to answer, but I thought you generally did consignments on a percentage of the sale basis. (You've always been great to me,...

Problems with Sam Murray. Need Contact Information
Hi Gang, Does anyone have a current phone number or email for Sam Murray? In 2007, Sam Murray called me and asked that I sell his flutes for him. I told him I'd be happy to and we agreed to pricing and a delivery schedules. He then said he needed money. No problem...I sent him quite a lot of money a...

Kennedy & Bayley 1/2 sets or just drones for sale
I have a couple of nice half sets for sale.
One by Joe Kennedy and the other a barrel drone set by Chris Bayley.
I"m willing to split up either set if someone just needs the drones.

Re: Windward flutes
I've played everybody's stuff and lots of Windwards. I've only played one Morvan. I am not a Pratten guy but the Windwards often cause me to question my resolve. Their Olive wood stuff is particularly gorgeous as is their pink ivory. Forbes and Yola are like doting grandparents to their customers. T...

Re: I keep reading posts about how you only need 6 holes...
Every flute player I know is "serious". It's almost impossible to play the flute while smiling. That said, I'm far from a serious fluter. However, I can have any flute in the world that I want. The most amazing flutes keyed and keyless come through the shop on a daily basis. Still, ...

Re: Olive wood
Forbes and Yola Christie (Windward Flutes) make some glorious flutes of olive wood. I've had several come through the shop. The tone is warmer and more complex than blackwood but not as smooth and buttery as boxwood.

Geoffrey has sold a few through the store. They were cylindrical-bore. His workmanship is top notch. He makes Low whistles too.

Re: Copeland flute worth?
I've sold many of them over the years. They go for from $1000 to $1200. All of Michael's flutes are very good. A few are other-worldly good.

Re: Choosing a high end flute...how?
I spent years and piles of money buying and selling flutes to find "my flute". Ironically it turns out the one I started with would have been just fine. OVer the years I grew as a player and that first flute (that I thought wasn't good enough) was actually terrific when I played it again y...

Re: removing that musty smell
I use one of those Ozone de-orderizing machines. I make a little tent with a sheet over the flute and front of the machine, run it for a couple of hours. Even a flute owned by a smoker, or that have a musty/mildewy odor comes out smelling good.

Re: Burke Narrow bore frusteration.
Cut a strip of 3X5 card narrow enough to run through the windway and run it through a few times. That'll likely straighten it out. A tiny bit of gunk can really goof up air flow.
