I just ordered the book mentioned by CDon from Half.com. They have several like-new, slightly used copies for good prices. Interested parties might want to check it out.

Whoa! (As opposed to WhOA...) I'm so amazed at the historical knowledge you all have about whistles/tunes/musicians. I'm humbled and will continue to study.

Basically, that's my question. There are loads of tunes like Planxty Fanny Power, Planxty Dale Wisely, Planxty Connor, etc. etc. What does the word Planxty mean?

Oh my, Moonlight, does your cat run from the room too? As soon as I pick up my whistle the cat runs to the door and meows until I let him out. And I thought it would bother the dog! Anybody know why cats hate them?

Since I just looked up my Irish-ness in my genealogy record and discovered my ancestors in the 1600s were from County Limerick, it is only appropriate that I contribute: There once was a gal named Sue Who felt Irish through and through. She played on the whistle as soft as a thistle, And says "...

Well, the roots are pretty well buried...Francis Fanning was my however-many-greats-grandfather. He was Mayor of Limerick, County Limerick, in the early 1600s. His son Edmund was born in County Limerick in 1620 but died in Connecticut - the emigrant. But I say anybody who can be moved deeply by Iris...

Unfortunately it looks like I'll be shoveling snow all day - woke up to two feet and still coming down! After church I'll do what I always do on Sunday anyway, play Irish tune after Irish tune on my whistles! (Think I'll get out my genealogy book and figure out just how far back my Irish roots are, ...

I have a Feadog D with the plastic mouthpiece, and recently bought a Clarke's D with the wooden fipple. But the wood is rough and irritates my lower lip - I can only play it for a few minutes. Can these things be sanded or something to smooth them? I don't play it at all because of this problem. (An...

I'm a newbie with lots of "inane" questions, but I'd think the oldtimers would be glad to share knowledge and experience. I just recently found this website and have no idea if my questions are repeats or not - I would assume many of them are, but I have no idea how long ago. Please be pat...

Topic: Fingering very low notes???

Hope this isn't a dumb question, but I'm new to this whistling stuff.....I occasionally see whistle sheet music with notes below the low D on the scale (i.e., C, B, etc.). I've looked at several fingering charts but can't find anything that shows how to play these very low notes. How do I do that?
