Twice now I've attempted to play both whistle and fife after 3 glasses of wine. The result was less than optimal both times.

I understood the original post that started this whole thing off as not being "How dare a n00b attempt to play with the A Team?". But subsequent posts seemed to start to lean that way, or at least, sensitive Noobs like myself may start to feel like the rest of the posts are trying to tell ...

Your Gemeinhardt clicks just like mine does. You play it so well, unlike me. Do you think you'll get tired of the clicking?

I'm so glad my sessions aren't as full of grumpiness as postings like this topic. I totally understand the sentiment and wouldn't want to hear people playing badly either. But for some reason, despite being as bad as can be and committing some of the sins listed above, people come to me each session...

Yes, I thought the cat box was the litter box, too. Cat carrier or travel cage is what I call the container for taking the cat in the car.

By the way, never use a plastic cat carrier to transport a cockatoo, especially if you drive a motorcycle. Bye bye birdie.

The audio clips are very helpful because there are some subtle differences in how the whistles all sound. I listened to some of these audio clips and determined that the most toy-like whistle of them all sounds really good to me and now I think I want to try one (the sweetone -- is that sweet one or...

The Fliuit book is good too if you don't mind hearing flute and playing whistle. It's got some good easy tunes to start off with.

I learned two tunes purely by ear recently. Forgot 'em just the same. That's not unusual. Happens to me, too. Frequently I have to reacquaint myself with the tune at least a couple of times, depending. But once it's solid, it's solid, and I don't have to depend on the dots. Although we're getting i...

That "noxious weed" is the source of reeds for uilleann pipes and other instruments. It is used by many for whistles and flutes as well. For uilleann pipe reeds, none is better than California wild cane from certain locations. Well, maybe we could control non-native arundo by creating a b...
