Yes, Cillian's are one of my favorite Low D's that I have played. I now have the modern version, made by Maurice Reviol. It's essentially the same, with some updates to the design, but very similar.
Enjoy your whistles when you can, and let the web go instead! ; )

Re: Introduction and thank you to many.
Hi-ho Silver...! Great that you made it back to the whistle world-welcome back! I have done the same after my many and various musical journeys. Of course, I continue to move around to different instruments at will and nil, much to the degradation of the best skills on any. But that's how I'm made, ...

OK, thanks for the boost guys-now I don't feel quite as decrepit as I did before your posts-and knowing I'm not alone in my feelings helps me feel a little better about it. Of course, if I had that blaster ray that made them all disappear at will, it would make me feel a lot better.

Re: M&E flute: help, ebonite vs polymer?
As far as tone goes, I prefer the Ebonite by far. It just seems the best tone between wooden and plastic (PVC or Delrin), and I wasn't truly happy before I tried and kept the Ebonite M&E for myself. I have had many good wooden flutes (besides other Delrin and M&E polymers too) and just found...

Re: So... don't bring your whistle to Disneyland
It's very obvious to me what this is all about, but those who do not consider the rights of others above their own, may not see the bigger picture here. Every time I am out in public, I am bombarded with music from other sources than of my own control or choosing, and I am very weary of that bombard...

Re: Low A Magic.
Yeah, but you can still feel the timbre and power in those low notes, and it sounds great to my ears, even with the reverb.
I have a Chieftain low B that sounds very similar-it's a blast to play and experience those unique low tones in a whistle!

Re: Ears hurt - Would a lower whistle better protect my hearing?
I share your pain of high notes and loud noises, like fire engine sirens, etc. That is probably why I never got along with the high D's much, unless I muted them with blue tack, among other methods of quieting whistles. Mostly, I just play low D's, but even they can get shrill into the upper end of ...

Re: CP SPECIAL OFFERS
Nice review Ruben! It sounds like you scored a very nice whistle, for sure. Too bad Ronaldo doesn't offer these still-they were great. That is the model I had also that I really liked, but let go by mistake either in a time of financial need or just moving on to be able to afford to try something el...

Re: Moving a whistle to a more humid climate
Joe, No doubt others will answer this more directly, or efficiently, but from what I've read and heard, there isn't as much of a problem going from dry to humid, but the other way around. I believe your wooden whistle should be fine, but do note that most recommend a wooden instrument be kept at lea...

Re: CP SPECIAL OFFERS
Good for ya', JS! I too had a Reyburn Maple head standard bore that I sold, and wished I hadn't, but am now grateful to Ronaldo for having something equally as interesting in tone to relieve the psychic debt of selling something you liked and couldn't replace! ; ) We all do stupid things at times th...

Re: What brand of low whistle is this?
Very interesting! Seems my NR is the 3rd rendition. The beak on mine looks totally different, especially from the end view. The windway on mine is much smaller, and the beak is flattened, and curved, left to right. No doubt all the variations makes it harder to key in on a model, but thanks to Phil ...

Re: What brand of low whistle is this?
Yes, Bernard, Colin and Phil were making Overtons at one point, but they all had flat ground sides on the head, as opposed to the round profile of the Chieftains, which was his design. Phil stopped making Overtons, and Colin eventually did too, and now his are called Goldie whistles, and Phil; Kerry...

Re: What brand of low whistle is this?
It does resemble a Chieftain, but it appears that the beak is too short, for either the OS (old style), or NR (new range) that came a little later. You can see a picture here on Phil's website here, in the post dated 29/04/2007 comparing the two, along with a V3. http://www.kerrywhistles.com/blog?di...

Re: Embouchure fault?
Okay, but given the idea of the two diameters of straw, surely by careful pursing of the lips one can create the given velocity of air for a particular note but using less actual air. I understand more clearly now that your trying to control the air flow into the whistle wind way entrance by pursin...
