Re: Maker of UP who also made Highland..
I have never heard of Taylor making Highland Pipes, but T. Crowley and Alphonsis Kennedy made Highland Pipes. I have a stampled T. Crowley Highland Pipe Chanter (c. 1930's).

Re: Who Sells Bronze Reg Reeds?
Bruce Childress makes bronze regulator reeds. Several years ago he made a tenor reg reed in bronze for me to try out in the Brennan set I was restoring. It didn't work well in the Brennan set, so Bruce refused to take payment for it and said to keep it. Recently I put that bronze reed in the Froment...

Re: David Daye drones
Thats because the adverage Uilleann piper is far more self reliant, innovative and intelligent then the cleverest highland piper. ... If truth be said this is just one of the reasons the Uilleann pipes are far superior to the highland pipes and why the thinking highland piper eventually come over to...

Re: Reedmakers in North America
Kinch Padraig O'Kane in Miami is a very experienced reedmaker.
And what about Sean Folsom? He's been known to make reeds for many types of pipes and I know firsthand that he makes reeds for uilleann pipes.

Re: chancing upon a classic set of pipes
In 2008 someone contacted me that had a set of pipes she had found in the attic of her father's home. They had belonged to her grandfather. It was a 4-reg set of c. 1915 Brennan pipes with the maker's name and address stamped on the mainstock. It was a great find and was an enjoyable restoration and...

That band rocks! I ordered their CD last week. If we want more music from bands like this, we need to support them by buying their music and going to their events, which isn't hard to do when they sound this good!
Cheers!

Stock Tie-In Placement
I acquired a new bag and now I'm going to tie it in. I've tied in about 6 Uilleann pipe sets and over 100 sets of highland pipes over the years. Stock placement measurements are well defined for highland pipes, but it seems to be not so for Uilleann pipes. I realize bag size and shape vary more for ...

Re: Bag Type and Regs
Good suggestions PJ. I've actually been wrestling with this for several months and I've tried both shortening and extending the neck. When the bag neck is set up longer I can reach the furthest keys easily, but when I move up toward the higher reg notes, the neck is so stiff that it pushes on the ch...

Bag Type and Regs
I’m having trouble moving my chanter around (even a little) while trying to get squawks and squeaks out of my regulators. The bag I have is riveted and the neck is very stiff. I’m going to try a new bag. I’m looking at the Jackie Boyce “Rowesome Style” bag. Anyone got suggestions, ideas, guidance or...

Played a couple of tunes with Mr. D'Arcy at a party Sunday evening. Not only can he really blow great tone, he breathes life into every tune and makes it fun.

I wouldn't use Goo Gone, that's very strong stuff. I use almond oil for removing tape.

Re: Tape as finger placement guides?
Never heard of or seen such a thing. Remove the tape, clean up the chanter and get started learnng to play. Those DVD's are a great tool for learning.See the tape by the holes? The seller stated it was an old piper's trick to assist with finger placement.

Re: Uilleann pipe stickers
I think most people will get the intended implication that Uilleann Pipes (or should I just call them 'uilleanns' ) are a higher order of evolution than highland pipes (....can I call them 'highlands'? ). Either way, both are nice for playing aires! Peace and lurve to you all (as our Uil...
