P.S. I've yet to hear any _really_ poor clips on builders websites. If you want to PM me with links I'd be glad to listen and pass judgement. :) I'm not going to single anyone out — I think that would be rude — but as the person who maintains the Open Directory's list of whistle makers , I've heard...

Ronaldo, I think the point here is that it's better to have a poor recording of a good player than a great recording of a poor player. Hence, what you currently have up is, despite the band, better than what a lot of makers offer.

Sometimes my ears ring for a day or so after shows, but wearing ear plugs would spoil the fun. I think you'll find that going deaf will also spoil the fun, permanently. If you are ears are ringing after a show, then you are already harming your hearing, even if it "seems" to recover later...

I use, and highly recommend, the Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3. Unlike other "ergonomic" mice, the Evoluent requires little to no time to adapt to, and is reasonably inexpensive.

As it happens I am thinking of doing some additions to that at the moment.
Thanks in advance for that!

My teacher gave me a great tip about how to learn where to breathe: Learn the tune with a breath in every measure. Then you'll be able to take a breath whenever you need one, and you won't always do it in the same places, which makes the tune sound repetitive.

Lol, I was wondering why there was no pictures of the band on the CD. :) The background photo on the inside has all three members (through the window, while performing at a house concert). From left, you can just see the back of Brian's head through the first window, then Pat is in the center windo...

I take my folk flute to the session and it's in tune enough most of the time. But the fiddle players have a tendency to go sharp after a while and the only thing pulling out the tenon will do is go flatter. My folk flute is in tune with the tenon not pushed all the way in, so I can go sharper if I ...

You can use a Tipple to beat tent pegs into the ground, dig a latrine, and make up the handle of an improvised canoe paddle. Wouldn't try any of that with a Folk Flute.

a whistle which requires less breath control to get the note right isn't really doing you any favors So in the alternative, if it jumps octaves unpredictably and is difficult to control it's "doing us a favor"? Yes, exactly. Training wheels are useful when you first climb on a bicycle, bu...

If you listen to the cd's on your computer using Windows Media Player or something similar, try setting the player to play slower on some of the fast peices--it can help you better dissect what you hear. How do you get to the settings to do this on Windows Media Player? View->Enhancements->Play spe...

Here's a hint which helped me tremendously with low D and E when I was just getting started. I wish I remembered where I saw it, so that I could give credit. It's a simple change of thinking. Don't "blow" low D. Instead, "breathe" it. That got me over the initial hump. Now I don'...
