Oak Fipple Question

Did a search and couldn't find any hard information on (some) of this. I purchased an oak D from a local music store back over the summer and only recently attempted to remove the fipple to see about possibly purchasing a whitecap from Mr. Hoover. My first question is in regard to a thin piece of pl...

It's not necessarily a difference of old versus new, as is the case with any hand made, or hand machined, instrument. I first ordered a set of Syns from Erle and was not content with the sound, and didn't know if it was just me, the whistle or both. Also, these are the new model with the Syn engravi...

Well, just from my personal experience with my Songbird, I received the whistle exactly two weeks after ordering it, and I'm on the east coast near New York City so it may take a bit longer to get all the way out west. Phil was reliable and offered good communication whenever I had a question.

Being a little selfish, I'd like to attend at the Sweet's, as I'm already in CT. It would be nice to get over my typical internet shyness at a face to face gathering. I've been meaning to take a trip to their workshop for months, as scheduling issues mucked up my plans last fall.

Well, if they're available at The Whistle Shop within the next couple weeks I'll certainly order one and post my impressions. And if not I may just break down and have one sent over the pond, though I'm awfully impatient.

All I have is some speculation at this point. From what I can see in the picture, it doesn't appear to have the ring common of the brass tuning slide The ABS head looks slightly larger in circumference than the other whistles, as well. A less sophisticated head could be the difference in price, if i...

I actually ordered the same day as Jason, being the first day they were back in stock. I had mine delivered to the US and while it was registered mail, they just delivered it on tuesday 5/16 to my porch and left it there. Also, this is my first low whistle. I absoloutely love the tone and while it d...

Well, another vote for the dixon here. The non-tunable polymer is a bargain at under $20 and remains one of my (if not overall) favorite whistles in my collection since I bought it over two years ago. Over the past few weeks it's definitely gotten the most play out of any of my high whistles. It IS ...

The barrier for me in purchasing a one of the more expensive wooden whistles has been my playing ability. I've only played a couple of times in public, and consider myself to be mediocre at best. So while I would love to own one of Paul's whistles I'd almost be embarrassed to pull something that stu...

In another thread, Phil let those of us looking for the songbird know that he was assured that production would begin yesterday, 4/19/2006. He also said that with all luck, they will be in stock at the end of the month. Hope this helps.

I really like the Syns and I've been having internal financial struggles over the sweetheart since last fall. But something I'll note is that I had read certain people talking about how they love their old feadog/walton/cheetos even more after playing something higher end. When I read this, I though...

I purchased the D/C set last fall. Finishing up school and work left me little time for whistling until recently, so my Syn problems weren't a big issue. Anyway, I have the opposite problem, my C tube is very loose. I've applied very little cork grease to form a seal and that seems to have solves th...

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm coincidentally in the same boat as Jason. I'm looking at my first low D and narrowed down to the songbird and the "easy blow" plastic head. However, with the current out of stock on Phil's site, the listed price is 0 GBP. Does anyone know about what the ...

Does the "SOLD" apply to all three? I mean, I wouldn't be shocked, but I'm just curious.
