Re: Paolo Soprani G/C 21 button 3 Voice?

Why are C/G anglos popular, but not G/C 2 row button boxes? The quick answer: your typical C/G anglo has 30 buttons, and as a result, is fully chromatic, with most notes having a button that works on both push and pull. As you might expect just from the button count, a typical 21-button G/C accordi...

That's just shorthand for alternating 8s and 7s here, so fortunately not a true 87!
Should be written 8+7 over 8. Not sure if that's legal in ABC, though.

Re: 5/4 Time

Yes, you could tap all 5 beats out equally. Chances are, though, that they are really in some kind of grouping. For 5/4, it's usually a group of 2 followed by a group of 3, or vice versa. Check out the Mission Impossible Theme to see what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAYhNHhxN0A . You co...

Re: James Morrison: the Professor

Wandering a bit off track here.... On the other hand these sets are great 'ice breakers' when first playing with people you haven't played with before, everybody will have them. In recent weeks I have, for example, been listening a lot to a recording made at a gig by Paddy Canny and Peter O'Loughlin...

Re: James Morrison: the Professor

Overall worth giving the (at least) once over for little snippets and factoids in it... I think there's a lot of nice information for the person who doesn't know much about Coleman & Co. It is quite astonishing to think exactly how influential those two recordings were . Just about every great ...

Re: James Morrison: the Professor

I got my copy of the Sligo Masters DVD five years ago, haven't watched it in ages but remember it being nice enough. Just started it again, and 3 minutes in they've already talked to Brian Conway, Gregory Daly, and Philip Duffy. Edited to add: Though so far (about halfway through) it's mostly Colema...

Re: Psychedelic Pratten

Well, although the raspberry sundae effect wouldn’t be my favourite blend of colours, I think it looks stunning. I can't imagine why it would be any sort of problem to fetch to a session, other than that its talking point attraction of attention might make getting any playing done tricky. I want on...

Re: James Morrison: the Professor

John Carty has a set of "James Morrison's Two-Steps" on I Will If I Can that includes "Dem Golden Slippers" and then (yes) "Goodby Pat, Goodbye Mick". Oh (just thought to consult my MP3s) it looks like it's the same tunes as a track on The Professor : Wreck Of The 99 / ...

CD Baby thinks it's a 2016 album, and the MP3 files I have are dated July 12 2016.

Re: Searching for tune

Did a Google search on "beth tune Dallas Skies" (no quotes in actual search) and found two prior C&F threads, including an MP3 posted by the composer. Unfortunately my attempt to link those threads here did not go well, not sure what is up. Edited to add: Though NONE of the links to th...

Re: Kenny's flute recordings

Also two tracks on Vol 3 -- one solo "Maid Behind the Barrel / Shaskeen" (same as yours, I'm guessing) and "Queen of the May" with Mick Joe Ryan and Tommy Hunt. (Should have thought to grep against the output of my MP3 tag dumper yesterday.) Edited to add: Nope, just checked, and...

Re: Kenny's flute recordings

Looks like Sonny has one track on The Coleman Archive Volume 2. There's also a bunch of tracks from a "James McDonagh" on "The Mountain Road" -- dunno if he's a relative or not, cannot dig up my copy of Trip to Sligo ATM to see if it sheds any light on the subject.

One in mini-van. One in laptop bag. Rest in backpack (ready for heading to the session) or on desk.
