Slightly O/T for an Uilleann Pipes forum, but many of you are highland pipers as well and will be saddened and shocked at the news that Gordon Duncan was found dead at his home yesterday morning. He was a highly respected and innovative piper and composer- a leader of his generation.

Quick sessions in Leeds update - it appears that the Pointer on friday nights is only happening on a monthly basis - more info when I get it!

The regular weekly sessions are now The Skyrack, Headingley on Tuesday nights, 9.30pm, and the New Inn, Headingley on Sunday nights 8.30pm.

It was a great weekend, good tunes and a good time had by all. A big success for Irish Music Project in Leeds. Hopefully we'll see some more pipers at next years event....??? Alan Burton recently re-reeded my early 30's T Crowley chanter, its singing, sweet as a nut (although very slightly sharp of concert pitch due to its being somewhat on the short side). I'd recommend getting in touch with him about it...

Do any of you that are lucky enought to play both types of sets notice that your playing suffers when you switch? Quite the opposite actually. Apparantly that chanter is a very early chanter made by Mick Wilkinson, who was living in Bradford at the time.
