Re: 20 July 1969: Where were you?
I was 21 at my parent's house, watching a black and white TV. The TV was in the corner and the front door was open letting in the afternoon sun. Not that I remember anything about it. A side note: I was working at a small magnetics house that made coils and such for the military and NASA. One of the...

Re: Heads-up for technical folks: HP calcs
I have an HP 41 emulator on my iPhone 3G. Works just like my "real" one. I moved it to the front page so it would be my first calculator of choice, much to the chagrin of people who want to use an algebraic calculator.

Re: Hard Drives: What a difference 20 years makes.
My first computer was a 128K Mac. Sowewhere I think I still have the MacWrite/MacPaint disks. I upgraded the ram to 512K and then purchased a MacPlus with a 20M hard drive. Imagine that!. I think the HD was $500 back in 1987. Fortunately, my wife knocked the HD onto the floor one day and I got a Mac...

Re: Do you wear (or carry) a watch?
There's even a clock on my frickin' iPod, fer cryin' out loud. Why does anyone need a clock on an iPod? I use it to set the sleep timer. Kinda nice to go to sleep with music on and have it turn off afterwards. But... I wear a chronometer ( more on that in a bit) and have a multitude of timing devic...

Re: The all-buzzword thread
I believe the design should reflect all the tenets of good six sigma design. Oh, and by the way, lets see if we can get cpi=spi=1.0 as a stretch goal. And I'd like to see what your actual cost of work scheduled is for fiscal month end. Has any one seen the technical performance metrics flowed down f...

Re: The Pre Tour de France 2009 thread
The Eroica seems to have gotten semi classic status very quickly since its inception. Thanks for the link. I'd like to ride in Tuscany and its "white roads", almost as much as some of roads on the Tour of Flanders. Its much too early to think about the Tour. I'm just waiting for the classi...

Does anyone else get upset when abbreviations are made plural like W.C's, as seen in the previous reply?

Re: Pipemakers in the 1970s
If I remember right, mid 70s, first or 2nd Lark in the Morning catalog was Ron Konzak in Seattle. Advertised a 3/4 set if I remember. I believe he recently passed away, but don't quote me.
