8 key flute by Eduard Heidegger, Linz SOLD
8 key flute by Eduard Heidegger, Linz A beautiful flute in blackwood with polished nickel keys. No cracks, as I have replaced the head joint, also to bring the flute into 440 tuning. Comes with original case, Christmas colored liner... :D Also, extra touch on the Bb key, has kind of a Vienna touch t...

Re: Thread or cork?
Thread! Unless the flute was designed for cork, the sockets will not support cork. Thread also helps support the tenon, by binding it. Flutes with lined sockets are fine for using cork tenons...

Re: FS - 2 (yes 2) Michael Grinter 8-key R&R Flutes For Sale
I have 2 Michael Grinter 8-key R&R model flutes for sale. Both are, I think African blackwood with silver keys, rings, and head lining. Both are in excellent/virtually unplayed condition. Both have a hairline (barely visible) crack in the back of the head. They don't leak but should be looked a...

Re: Very Loose Ring
I melt shellac on the inside of the ring, then heat up the ring with a soldering iron and push it on. I guess I am old school.

Re: Very Loose Ring
My flute has a very loose silver ring that no amount of humidifying or oiling seems to tighten up. It is located at the bottom of the headjoint, which is not a compression socket for a tenon; there is no outward pressure by the tenon or the tuning slide directly on the ring. The tuning slide floats...

Looks like a broken tenon repair to me, not to hard to replace.

Re: Handed down : Josie McDermott
I had the opportunity to restore Josie McDermott's flute back in 2012, the flute was a R&R that had seen better days... When the flute was finished an arrangement was set up where an elderly gentleman in a tweed suit came to pick it up on Sunday morning, he had to be at least 90, I asked him how...

Re: Where does one look for Rudalls?
Thanks, i was thinking about the same question yesterday. Today, looking at one makers price list and noting large price increases, I was thinking about it again. As I always say, "Why buy a copy, when you can get the original at half the cost!" I have 3 Rudall's in my shop at the...
