Re: Can I Post on the Used Instruments Exchange?

Hi Panya, and welcome. :-) Yes, there's a restriction. Please see #5 here: http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewtopic.php?style=1&f=3&t=96471 Introduce yourself on one of the forums, contribute a couple of thread comments, and you'll be off the 3-post UIE/PM restriction in no time. Until the...

Re: Searching for the title of a tune

Concertina.net appears to harbour less trolls than this forum and there are actually knowledgeable people amongst the "incorrigable snobs" whereas it would appear that more of the better minds have fled this place. :really: Geoff, if you have a complaint then you can bring it to our atten...

I know for future.
Thanks, Nick. :-) Yes, the UIE view is that an item's status is binary: it's either available or not. Pending means not, and you can always repost. - Mod

Re: Munich .. the Film

Yep. :-)

FWIW ... I took the mini-tram tour of the impressive Olympic Village in 1973, one year on. And as I recall, there were only passing mentions of the massacre, with the focus on the games and the architecture (and the beer garden). A normal tour, but with a slight air of irreality.

Re: Stands that fit wooden flutes?

I wonder how you would position a stand in such a fashion that it would poke an eye out. Ik thought you'd put it on a table or a shelve or something like that. Maybe you just move ferociously while playing. :-) Yes, of course! Because it distracts everyone from my lousy playing! I don't know...

If by interesting you mean that those antler thingies could put someone's eye out.

Which is why you should always wear Flute Goggles at a session. Safety first!

Re: Bad headline writing

I think "Turn of the Century" is usually meant as a calque of "fin de siècle". Which by default means especially the period surrounding 1 January 1901. "Turn of the Millennium" gives a nice distinction, unless you're a medievalist. As for previous centuries, we all know...
