I haven't seen much of anything useful on the market. If you have an understanding of the requirements, a bender isn't d...

The notion that a pipemaker sit's down and designs a chanter from scratch with some math's and some chart or other is well, it just doesn,t happen RORY Has it ever? Thoughout history the standard way to go forward in instrument design is to modify or extrapolate from an existing design, particularl...

What does everyone think of Pupleheart? My observations is it is similar in grain and density as Rosewood. It is not a popular choice for chanters and there are only a small handful of makers that use it... what an interesting color it is... purple is still masculin right? Cheers, CJ I worked with ...

Oiling is an excellent way to trash your key pads, particularly if you use some type of polymerizing oil, e.g. linseed, tung, or any variety of danish oil varnish. Completely unnecessary in any case. If you feel you must oil your stick, remove the keywork first. Whenever the subject of finishes come...

Hey Wally, Forget about stones. I've used wet/dry sand paper for all my sharpening for several years now. For the incannel all you need is a hard wood dowel of the proper diameter to conform to the sweep of the gouge. Wrap the appropriate grit of sand paper around the dowel and proceed with sharpeni...
