Re: Gardinder Houlgate 25th September

There was another, later in the sale, that seemed not to have any interest, but visually it's a striking flute. Large milled rings. #4301 as I recall my notes. Just a heads up that this flute is not in my opinion genuine, I bought it many years ago on e.bay and showed it to Chris Wilkes who was sur...

Re: Feedback on flute drawing

To me you need to simplify and give focus, at the moment it is all too uniform. Try and give yourself say three tones only: black for lines hair and flute and a grey for the shirt with everything else white. Try to use as fewer lines as possible you don't need an edge round everything you can allow ...

Re: Gardinder Houlgate 25th September

McEvoy's flute is straight not bulging too and the ring on the bulgy bit doesn't seem to match the other ones. There's another R&R but no pic. All from deceased gentlemen... several deceased gentlemen flute fanciers... someone is targeting flute collectors. :o

I'm no expert but that head looks like a stranger to the rest of the flute.

Re: Linseed Oil...........

I'm not sure about keeping out the water entirely, the flute seems to sound better for being damp. Chris Wilkes told me to use almond oil so I did... http://www.marinemegastore.com//images/products/large/BUR_403071_XL.JPG This is fierce stuff, went right through 2 in of oak on my kitchen worktop.

Re: Flute Photos!!! Come post your flute pictures :)

Here's a Bb I've just collected from Tom Aebi, lovely rich dark tone. 20 year old Sth France boxwood, silver keys. Not too hard to adjust to, only half a day and I'm getting the pewtered notes fine but it will take me a while to get in full control of it. http://www.treeshark.com/images/Posts/swiss4...

Re: Matt Molloy's trousers

Our researchers hope to take this further and produce the Flute Trouser™ which will be fully adjustable on the fly via our Constrictor™ technology that uses a simple foot pedal to open up new horizons in flute tone. We also hope to produce a product for the ladies but there are certain engineering ...

Re: Matt Molloy's trousers

Tightness of trousers... now this might be a genuine flooty topic... Looking in the dustier regions of my wardrobe I found a few pairs of trousers to test... with some astonishing results. Rudally flutes it would appear play better in loose trousers the freedom in the lower regions encourages a rela...

Re: Matt Molloy's trousers

When I saw this post for a moment I though Mr Molloy's trousers had come up for sale on ebay and were now being bid for by frantic forum members... it's no good though even if they did, it's his boots you need, his boots to play like him... though I've heard say his underpants have a very large D em...

The Blythe Hill Tavern is on Thursday, though I've only been to listen a few times,
Chris Corbett plays flute there sometimes it's been going for ages.

Re: old wooden flute and piccolo - help!!

Hawkes are good flutes of their time. Are these turn of the century? Look like it to me even after could well be. The 8 key looks worth restoring.

Re: Flute Grip: Classical and Piper's

Have we had this thread before...?
I've just been through it and now I've lost my grip entirely.
Couldn't we have one of those things like harmonikkerybobdylanyneilyoungy types have?
I can't quite put my finger on it, but it all seems quite near to the knuckle...

48 years... it's hard to catch up, have to play every day or sad decline occurs.
