I got a Bachelor's in Music Theory/Composition. I really enjoyed music school, but it was largely useless in terms of getting a job in the field. I did get jobs just by having a college degree, so in that sense i did okay. I'm in an unrelated field which i love, but i had to go back to school to get...

And building on Martin's observation of a guitar tuned in fifths, not only would it be very difficult to play, but I imagine that would put disasterous tension on the intrument, so there's probably a structural reason for guitar tunings as well. When all you have is wood and wire, I suppose you hav...

There's also the mp3 option, though you don't get liner notes and all.

Emusic has quite a bit of Kevin Burke, for example.

The topside is pretty plain and boring, but the bowl looks very nice. The strings on the mandolin right now are a...

just DL'd a nice album from Paul Brock and Enda Scahill, Humdinger . It's Paul Brock on just single-row melodeons (Castagnari) in D and C with Enda Scahill's tenor banjo and mandolin, with piano accompaniment (also Tommy Hayes on percussion). It's got a 78-era feel to it, lovely stuff. If you don't ...

A friend tells you when you have a booger hanging out of your nose where someone who is just being polite wouldn't mention it.

Oliver Sacks wrote a book on this subject, IIRC. If you google his book you may come up with some interesting stuff, like this.

I'm not sure what you're asking, then.

Maybe Kevin Griffin? He plays a lot of choked triplets, and very strong rhythm.

If it's percussive as in "plunky", maybe Sam Bartlett.

Sorry if these are missing the mark.
