Re: Bellows recommendations
I have a Kellerher set of bellows. They are very good. Great service too. Very well made and comfortable to use. Can't fault them.

Re: Handling notes that fall below the range of the flute
Adapt those passages and play them an octave higher.. That way it's sure not to clash with the melody. ITM as with many forms is largely monophonic. So just the melody and nothing in the way of harmonies. Harmonies can work and oft times if done with taste and discretion but I've heard quite a few t...

Returning to practice set
I have decided that after a long period of " irregular" practice to forgo my full set and without distract of drones and regulators to concentrate on basics and techniques of the chanter. My playing had become sloppy and I'm just not prepared to live with it like this anymore. So I'm going...

Re: Are there tunes you will not play anymore?
Yeah.. Most of the "big" piping tunes that have been done to death! I find it hard to stomach another rendition of Colonal Frazer yet again! I love hearing refreshing new tunes done on pipes.. I've been playing quite a few unusual piping tunes from Goodman Manuscripts and also some lovely ...

Sad news Allan Moller RIP
Just heard from a mutual friend that Allan Moller has died. Very sad news and his reed making skills and knowledge will be sorely missed. For those of you who met Allan he was always ready to help his fellow piper with his knowledge of reeds and reed making. A colorful character if ever there was on...

Every now and then they get it right. I've heard several Chanters and even half sets that have come from Pakistan.. A few of them have been surprisingly good..

Re: Opinions on chanters for a beginner!
I play a Burton&Wyatt Holly chanter with C and F nat keys. It is every bit as good as my old Cillian chanter and I would have no hesitation in recommending their work.
Another very good maker is Dave Lim from Manchester. I am very impressed with his work and his prices are very reasonable.

Re: Back D triplet.
There are different pipers who use different methods. I do actually use a down up down thumb movement and with quite a lot of persistent practice you should be able to get rhythmic accuracy and control. Other pipers I have seen just use the movement from the first joint. Other s use the whole thumb....

Re: Left hand pinkie
Hi, the f key doesn't open and it's not a problem in terms of unwanted fs. It's just my pinkie sometimes clips the key in passing. Guess I'm used to there not being a key there and now there is. I'm getting more used to there being a key there but takes a little getting used to. I've decided just to...

Left hand pinkie
Just got my chanter fitted with C and F nat keys. Never had an Fnat key before and I find that I'm needing to keep my left hand pinkie finger tucked out of the way so I don't clip the f key. I'm having to adjust how I use my top hand... Tucking my pinkie under. what do other folk do to avoid clippin...

What? No Naturals?
Listening to the Piping of Patsy Touhey and can't help but notice that he negates all C naturals where you would expect them such as in Scotch Mary
I was wondering if this was by choice or necessity? Any opinions?
It makes those G tunes all Lydian
