Making some changes - Jubilee Music Instrument Co.
After September 30, 2013, I'm cutting back whistlemaking. I will be still offering some of the unusual items that you can only find at Jubilee Music Instrument Co. but the everyday stuff is being stopped. A few item may go on Ebay after that date -- don't know yet - dont' ask. I've been doing this s...

Re: Shape of the mouth
Native Flutes have a section called the Slow Air Chamber which supposed to suppress Air Noise by lowering the velocity of the air, straightening it out before it ramps up to high velocity in the duct. Mouth chambers of-course vary in size so I would suspect that the external chamber simply standardi...

That's very nicely designed. Should withstand anything short of fire or nuclear detonation.

Yes, it's too bad that Mars doesn't have a decent enough atmosphere to play it in. Sound file: http://www.kingsmills.us/jubilee/store/subnaf-d.wma Sorry that it's a Windows WMA file. Sub NAF
I'm building a Low-Low-D Bass whistle with the Native American Flute Scale for the Fort Ancient Celebration coming this weekend. NAF is short for Native American Flute and since it's in the Basswhistle range, I'm calling it a Sub NAF. It's wider than a basswhistle (2" bore) so that it's strong ...

Re: The Mighty Oak
Jerry, I know many people resort to heat to remove or add something. I thought I'd add a little story here. A friend of mine who had a machine shop had this special job of putting new bearing in ferris wheel hangers used at Kings Island about 10 years ago. In most cases, the entire hangar was heated...

Re: Whistle Open Design
Column H is theoretical length, whereas the cutting instructions under body length is real length.
You'll also notice "Hoover Length" on some. That is for making tonebody adapters that are compatible to Mack Hoover mouthpieces.

Whistle Open Design
I have a new folder open on my website entitle:
Whistle Open Design
Location: http://www.kingsmills.us/whistle-open-design/
It contains spreadsheets for various whistles that I make and covers multiple keys.
Eventually, each new design will be available here for all the specifications.

Re: Square Bass Whistle project
People are finding places for them. Sales of Bass Whistles and Chromatic whistles have more than doubled in the past three years. Of course, the designs are becoming more refined with time as well. In ITM. maybe not as fast but some have used it as the solo instrument, thus "Bass Solo!" (t...

Square Bass Whistle project
Behold the prototype! Head joint is together with the body. Tuning set screw not completed yet. 1 key mounted w/o spring yet. Headjoint seal seems to work well. So far it has good sound. http://www.kingsmills.us/bw-cedar1.jpg But flat keys will probably not allow any note bending. Made from Cedar pl...
