The question for me would be, is the teacher playing in a way you want to absorb and emulate? If so, stick around and learn and keep listening. If not, find a teacher whose playing you admire. Learning to read the dots is a good skill to have in any case.

I'll put you out of your misery now: Bonequint was ahead of the pack and got them all first Interesting set of mistakes from some of you though, I thought both the Blackbird and the old whistle stood out The old whistle stood out the most, I felt. I was surprised several people misidentified it. Ma...

1) Darra
2) Oak
3) Sindt
4) 19th Century
5) Blackbird

Not trying too hard...I only have a strong suspicion on one. And of course the room and mic and MP3 compression and speakers and all affect the sound quite a bit, the usual disclaimer.

Varied Mess of YouTube Concertina Videos

I've posted several new concertina videos on YouTube over the last few months that I haven't alerted anyone here to, so I shall in case anyone's curious. Nothing Irish though. I played them on a Wakker Hayden duet with 46 buttons. I have a few bones videos there too, and one on anglo concertina. htt...

Classical and traditional music are very different. You cannot play traditional music convincingly using only classical techniques. And if you immerse yourself in those techniques only, it can be very difficult to break away from them. Think of the way people who learn a new language later in life h...

the only time the voters might hear the candidate's names are in those signs. So there might be some amount of (at least subconscious) bump at the polls... Yeah...I think the same thing works with commercials. You're later faced with a wall of seemingly identical products, and if you have no other ...

Just because there's not much in the main page, doesn't mean there isn't lots of stuff hidden there "behind the scenes."

Someone is improvising based on the inflections in her speech. It's very well done. I was wondering if it was maybe programmed. But it does sound "live" to me. I love the little "uh" at 30 seconds in. I'd also like to hear the piano without the words behind it, that'd be interes...

Interesting how those "Real Flute" clips use so much artificial reverb. And there are a heck of a lot of ads on her YouTube channel and website. But, fair play to her for putting up a bunch of free clips and instructional videos.

How is it that in your avatar, the person and the dog walk at the same speed? They take the same amount of steps, yet the dog takes much smaller ones. He should be quickly left behind.
