It is true that the variances are going to be minor at all the same dimensions, and I think that the inner bore finish has to be taken a bit further... I still think it has a lot to do with the rigidity and thickness of the material. The less resonant a material is, the 'brighter' or somewhat 'muted...

Tune / Song Identification Help...

Ok first of all... here's the link: http://www.hooliegans.com/audio/Not_Sure.mp3 Second, I'll address all the funny issues beforehand .... yeah I know it's not quite a trad tune ;) Yes, I know that the quality of the recording isn't that great, but I didn't want the file too big Yes, the mic was too...

Are you right handed? If you are maybe you can start to do some things with your left hand that you would normally do with your right hand and get the signals going stronger that way? Yup, I'm a righty... and a pretty dependant one at that as far as finite dexterity goes ... sounding pretty obvious...

Yep, it's just that darned all elusive A for me... anything that transitions BETWEEN the hands or sits on the right hand is just great... I seem to be able to fly right along, but for some reason when I have to just roll between my index and ring finger like that my left hand just doesn't want to co...

I find it depends on what effect I'm trying to produce at the time, but if I'm staying in the upper octave for a bit, or especially needing to jump up into the high end of it, then I raise my toungue a bit. If I want to slide up into the second octave and let the whistle naturally break or 'flop' up...

The one I STILL have trouble with to this day from time to time is A. For some reason doing a roll that involves only my left 3 fingers escapes me. I can do it... I can do it pretty good... BUT the tricky part is doing it good ALL the time and keeping time. You know... that 'lilt' of the tune just g...

I'm thinking that possibly they might be thinking in terms of personal or generalized experiences. If you were to take the EXACT and I mean EXACT same dimensions and design (allowing of course for whatever minor hole displacement that might be necessary for given metal) and apply it to different met...

... The real problem for me is the hand to mouth stuff and the physical associations with activities.... That's why the eclipse cigarettes helped me so much. So little nicotine (probably less than the gum) ... no smoky, stinky after smell in yourself clothes, hair, or house, etc. BUT, only use what...

I smoked "eclipse" cigarettes for about a month and then just quit. They're a bit expensive, depending on where you go to get them. I found a place locally that sold them for regular name brand price. They are the cigarettes that don't burn down past about a 1/4" and just heat a pocke...

I'm very happy for you!!! I learned off of his and another site as well, and I had to UNlearn in the process! ugh! I didn't know about this site or anything when I started out so I had just tried to 'make up' stuff to sound like ornamentation.... boy did that take a lot of undoing. Feel proud and ke...

....whistle in a bottle ... Wouldn't that be nice if you were stuck on a desert Island. :) I think what happened, the customs people intercepted it and thought it was a mini rocket launcher, they were waiting for the other bits to turn up! You're pretty close to the mark I think!! ... I shipped one...

I also have a 'gold diamond' black Clarke C that was given to me a while back and it checks against a tuner nearly perfect accross the board. The C nat. is nearly spot on with OXXOOO. Mainly I just had to say that for an inexpensive whistle, aside from the overwhelming air requirement, this has one ...

Learning a new tune... to the EXACT NOTE (or close anyway), takes me a couple of weeks if it's a break-neck jig, couple of days for a slow aie, however playing in a session it only takes me about the first bar or so to figure out a pattern... start in, follow along, and then by the second or third t...

It's kind of funny though... I can only play by ear and memorization, and I never had the benefit of a teacher (hence my ever slow progression learning the whistle), and one of the things I really wish I COULD do is read sheet music, but there are a lot of times on here that I read people have a har...
