Gone to a good German home  Incidently if ye play the E note aff the leg wi the little finger left on then it is a much truer sound so maybe its not such a weird innovation on this particular chanter...32 bids ,guess there will be a lot o weeping and wailing going on... Slán Go Foill Uilliam...

I'll third that (or fourth?) -- Check with Dixon to see if he has something floating around the shop. Plus it's a lesson to always, always, always have a spare reed if you're doing any performing, no matter how informal.

Seriously Bruce, if you really want to impress your wife, get her a flat set of pipes. Flat sets are sets pitched lower than D (D is the most common pitch). Flat sets are quieter and have a sweeter tone. Most flat sets are C#, C, B or B flat. The lower you go, the longer the chanter becomes, which ...

Who made your stick? That said, I seem to remember that Bassoon cane tends towards being softer or harder than UP chanter cane (same cane, different grade/hardness). I don't remember which. You and he will want to read more about the float test for density before making your new reeds. If you don't ...

Ask her the 'make' of her current pipes. Talk to her more about how she feels about them. Your idea is really sweet and considerate, but musicians can be very, very particular. For example with me personally I have two favourite 'chanters.' One is very tempermental, kind of wanky but is by a now-pas...

Always good to check the fine print.

At 6.50 a tube I could retire! Well. For a little while. Let's see if anyone bites.

Wow.

$12.99 for eight pieces (not tubes)!

I could make a fortune on my boxes of Medir cane.

Instead of waiting until the last few minutes and someone picking it up for 200. But the burning question is: What is it ? I think Tom got it right. Experimentation or perhaps a chanter for nine-fingered Niamh. Oddly enough I think 'odd' chanters offer a draw for some people, whether or not they're...

Just you watch. It'll be up to 500 by the day of the auction and then someone will bid it up another few hundred in the last minutes because they're bid-crazy. Instead of waiting until the last few minutes and someone picking it up for 200.

Also note the old practice set is listed as a multi item auction... Multi-item auctions are for multiple units of identical things, as in someone with 10 identical cameras to dispose of. They're not for a single unique item. I'd suggest sending the vendor a note explaning, and suggesting that he ca...
