Yea, I've done that. Actually, I used an inverted U and turn the whole head upside down to make my Low-Low-D bass whistle shorter. The makers of sub-D whistles ought to put angled necks on them, I think.

Re: instrument related 3D printing
[Thread revival - Mod] I'm still collecting parts to make my printer. In the meantime, I've been practicing with 3D stuff. One of the packages is a programming language that generates 3D files, it's called OPENSCAD. Being a computer programmer, this is an attractive way to produce 3D objects. You c...

Re: Can flute-type keys be added to a standard high D whistle
Possibilities are endless. You can always make bigger toneholes with keys to get a fuller sound. There are drawback however. It has an effect on ornamentation of notes. One whistles, this can be compensated to some extent because keys can close down to a curve surface instead of a chimney on the ton...

Re: Can flute-type keys be added to a standard high D whistle
Hello, Yes, it can be done. Here's an example: http://www.kingsmills.us/jubilee/store/chroma-2011-front.jpg This above whistle has six normally closed holes (note, one is on the underside) and one normally open hole (over the D tonehole) in order to minimize stretching. The material is brass that ha...

Songbook Program
I have an update to my Electronic Songbook software. There are no songs in the library on this version posted due to copyright regulations but the software that I wrote is free. This software allows you to enter songs with guitar chords on lines above the words. The chord lines are marked at the end...

Back Pressure (note: has nothing to do with your back)
I found a good website that defines back pressure. http://www.flutopedia.com/breath_pressure.htm The site deals with Native American flutes however it mentions several other instruments and I think it describes it the best way that I've seen yet. It also has information on the therapeutic use of win...

Re: Bass D whistle WITHOUT KEYS! And beyond?
High guys. Yes, you can make a Low-Low-G with no keys. The "Basswhistle" that I made in the photo is Low-Low-D --- and the price difference between it and the Recorder are substantially different. Now, about three or four years ago I had my Basswhistle with me at a Native American Flute ev...

Government violence against Wind Instruments
The flute and whistle world was shocked when 11 Bamboo Flutes were massacred by US Border Patrol Agents. Yes, eleven instruments were harmed by government thugs! The made some claim that the bamboo did not undergo US approved drying procedures. Gee wiz, many bamboo flute makers roast the bamboo to m...

Re: Elaphone: A flared fipple flute constucted from staves
Hello Cory, Being one who makes unusual instruments and breaks design rules, I thought I'd make a few comments. I was curious that this being an expanding bore instrument that it might behave sort-of like a cross between a Native American Flute and Pennywhistle. The Native Flute don't attempt to hit...

Re: Making some changes - Jubilee Music Instrument Co.
I have several things I'd like to use a printer with. Part of a whistle head is not a bad idea. For that I was thinking of it from a component perspective instead of making the whole thing with it. Not run out of stream, just don't have enough time. Recently though, I finally made a Low-D Ahava Rabb...
