Hi Jeff, Actually there are quite a number of posts in the archives about elder reeds. Just click on the search link and type in elder reeds - I did it and was surprised at the past discussions. Cheers, Paul [ This Message was edited by: Strider on 2002-04-05 20:15 ]

So, my lovely parent's came over today to pick something up, and my Mom asked me how the pipes were coming along. I replied that after about three weeks, I'm still butchering things up, but exponentially more excited about playing them with every day that passes. So, I played her a terrible version ...

Brian, I'm having nearly the opposite problem... I hardly have to try to push any air through the chanter before the F and G immediately pop into the upper octave, I have to carefully try and cut down the pressure and let the F and G happen softly, then the A and B require significantly more pressur...

*whispers* I don't like her either! I'm just trying to be fair to people who do - and she's not here to defend herself. I really don't like that crappy song!

Cheers,

Okay okay - I'm no Céline Dion fan but boy, you guys sure know how to slam an incredible talent - I know, I know - you've just heard her waaaaaayy too much!! I agree. And that Titanic movie was sooo over-commercialized. It IS sappy and it does misrepresent Irish music, but - c'mon, some people do li...

Actually you can download it - but not for free. There are certain - ahem - copyright issues that forbid you from free access to sheet music - but you can buy it for a ranging price of $1.95 to about $5.50 at: http://www.musicnotes.com/ I did a search for "will go on" and it came up right ...

Actually it is - I'm a creative Photoshop dork. Calculus was never my forté. Took the whistle shot from somewhere else and made Bill's lips come to a grip on that whistle - didn't take too long - you notice he has no hands;-) Hmm... anyone have any requests to put whistles in famous people's mouths ...

Do you think Bill Gates plays the whistle too??;-) If he did it probably wouldn't last for more than 10 minutes before it needed an upgrade. Then it would crash and he'd pay some poor soul to almost fix it, then he'd sell it to give someone else grief. Boy, am I glad I use a Mac;-) Actually, I skip ...

I have the Heather Clarke Book and the NPU video. I may not have given the book enough focus, yet since I am preferring the NPU video. I think both have been carefully thought out and nicely paced. You really should spend a whole lot of time practising before you can move on to the next lesson - tha...

Definitely in agreement with Ron, I just picked up my loaner chanter with my own bag and bellows and just getting used to working the bellows/bag combination. I'm the type who gets easily testy, but I've got it in my head now that I need to take the time and develop the patience to learn for the lon...

I might suggest "An Speic Seoigheach" Joyce's tune. Very pretty air, esp. by Liam O'Flynn (The given Note).

These might be helpful;-) These intrigued me as well, but after I heard them, I thought them to be a little harsh. Pretty cool looking though!!
