Re: Old flat set in South Dublin auction
Uilleann harpist Qwop Maguire was spotted outside the South Dublin auction rooms on Monday afternoon with a pipe case. He'd driven down to Dublin, from Ballygob, on his tractor to collect the set. . Tuesday evening, the 14th, he had the set with him at the Ballygob local flat session in the What The...

Latest bid is €4400. Any idea who made the set? Could it be a Kenna? Is the apple included with the set?

Re: four month old flute cracks
Sorry to hear about your Olwell flute cracking after four months. You seem to have done everything right as regards preventive care. I've often heard of Sam Murray flutes cracking, but not of an Olwell flute cracking before. I don't think it's your fault but rather as Dave Copley wrote, an undetecte...

Good suggestions there from Mr. Gumby. Listen also to Dee Taster, Orlaith Maculiffe, Seamus Tansey, Paul McGlinchey, Sheila Friel, and Patsy Hanly. These are just a handful there are many more fine flute players out there Dee Tasker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYp1qY_CEUQ&t=3238s Orlaith Ma...

Re: Jeff Beck R.I.P.
A great loss. Never expected that, nor the recent passing of another master musician and singer, Séamus Begley. Jeff Beck was an incredible innovative guitarist. He also worked with some great female musicians and singers, such as Carmen Vandenburg, Rosie Bones, Tal Wilkenfeld, Imelda May, Joss Ston...

Re: New CD and website by Brian McNamara
Brian McNamara writes on the website that he is playing two sets of pipes on the new CD. One is a C set by Geoff Wooff in 1997 that he plays together with a C chanter by Benedict Koehler made in 2016. I wonder why he favours the Koehler C chanter, instead of the original Wooff C chanter that came wi...

Re: Se Mo Laoch Seamus Tansey
Thanks Peter. Seamus was a fine flute player indeed. Interesting to see how often he takes in air when playing. Great tone and phrasing too.
