Re: "Lord Gordon's" - Orlaith McAuliffe

Lovely playing. With all the talk of tweaked whistles and must have expensive instruments it is refreshing to hear someone playing a Generation whistle. I hope no ones going to tell me it is a tweaked job!

Re: The Chiff and Fipple Jig

There was a good tune called 'Planxty Dale Wisely' way back in the mists of time! I have forgotten who wrote it but it went up on Clips and Snips. Someone will remember I am sure.

Removing head from Killarney Whistle

I am having trouble getting the head off of my D Killarney. I have tried all the usual methods, hot water, soap and brute force, I even put it in a vice but to no avail. It is a really nice whistle and I don't want to damage it by using too much force. There also doesn't seem to be any contact detai...

Re: B flat Generation

MTGuru wrote if it is a problem, is not evident in the sound clip. Be that as it may I had this issue with several Bb Gens so I don't think it just happens with beginners. There is always the possibility I was extremely unlucky. Anyway I solved the problem by not purchasing any more Bb Generations.....

Re: B flat Generation

Most of the Generation Bb whistles I have owned have this problem and I have never found it on the D, Eb, C Generations. I thought it must be me so am glad to hear other people have the same issue. My answer was to buy a Sindt Bb which is superb although there are more accessible whistles in that ke...

Re: London sessions?

There used to be a good session at the "Blythe Hill Tavern" near Lewisham http://thesession.org/sessions/451 It's not far from central London. You would probably need to phone just to check it's on. I haven't been there for a few years as I live out of London now so don't know what is occu...

Re: Your favourite hornpipes?!

No I don't have a problem, it's only a message board! You just sound (to me) a bit superior at times. So if there is a problem it's probably mine. That said, me being mostly a lurker, I think your contribution overall to the forum is very informative.

Re: Your favourite hornpipes?!

Mr Gumby wrote; I suppose this sort of thread is a recurring feature of forums like this. While I can see the point, to a degree, of hearing what other people play, the result is more often than not a litany of the overplayed and obvious. Yes Mr Gumby but it's always a good opportunity for you to gi...
