Concur with Mike J's comments about the whistle and about the playing (since January, really???).
Disagree with his comment about the blue label: I actually like it!

STRING INSTRUMENT
I am not sure there is such a thing as an "easy" instrument. When I was considering the uillean pipes, most people told me to take up the whistle (much easier instrument they said)... I am not finding it particularly easy, at least to play it properly. This being said, and having played it...

WHISTLE MOVIES
There seem to be more and more indeed. However, it appears the bulk of the playing is being done by Eric Rigler (who is mostly famous for the Uillean Pipes but also plays low whistles). He did Braveheart, Titanic (Hymn to The Sea), Road to Perdition and a couple of TV Shows (including the infamous &...

TEACHER
Thank you very much for the recommendation. The classes sound great. Since I live and work in NJ, they may be hard for me to make but I emailed Bill Ochs to see if he might be able to recommend somebody more local.
Thanks again!

Is anyone aware of Whistle/Low Whistle instructors
in the Northern New Jersey region? I live in Nutley (yes, of Sopranos fame...) which is by Giants Stadium.

Circuitous route at best. Been a guitar player for years. My brother-in-law taught himself fiddle and introduced me to Alisdair Fraser. I bought records, and fell in love with Uillean Pipes (as played by Eric Rigler). Thought I would learn those, got talked out of it and landed on the low whistle in...

CLEANING TIPS
I just started on the whistle a few weeks ago, with a Chieftain Low G. Being extremely new at this, I am looking for tips on how to best clean it, both inside and out. If this is relevant, it is made of aluminium alloy and is the non-tunable version.
Thanks in advance
