Wanted: D chanter

If you have a decent D chanter, preferably reeded, and would like to sell it or would take a set of my whistles in partial trade, let me know.

CP: Whistle sets on eBay

I have put two whistle sets on eBay. The first is a roasted birdseye C/D set. This is a beautiful wood, with grain that seems to change as you move it in the light. I am starting the auction at the regular price of a single whistle, because of a dark mark on the back of the C body, which can be seen...

CP: New From O'Brien Whistles: The Whisolo Pro

The Whisolo Pro is a chromatic pennywhistle, based on a piccolo body, like the original Whisolo. Instead of a metal piccolo body, I have used one made from an ebony powder/ebonite composite. It has a great feel in the hands, with the larger outside diameter and a sweeter tone than the original instr...

Re: Aluminium whistles and your health...

I think the Altzheimer's/ aluminum link has been largely discredited. One suggestion was that the brains being analyzed were kept on aluminum trays in one of the studies that showed a connection.

FS: Two Burkes

Composites, B flat and D. The D has a broken and repaired body, as well as a brass one I made. Both have the original cases.

I would like US$180 for the B flat and US$150 for the D. Shipping is US$10. If you'd like both, US$300, free shipping.

Picture upon request- please pm your email address.

Re: 2nd Hand John Sindt whistles for sale

Believe it or else, I once owned a "Syndt" whistle that I bought on eBay from Mr Bartlett. It was a one-off that Earle made, "in the style of a Sindt". It had the thick metal headjoint of a Sindt, with a Syn's distinctive tulip shaped Delrin mouthpiece. "Syndt" was acid...

CP: New Whisolo samples and improved cases

Hi All- I have sent out quite a few chromatic whistles recently. I make whistle head-joints for piccolo bodies. A lady in Scotland who just received her Whisolo has sent me two tunes played on it. Here they are (with her permission): http://obrienwhistles.com/files/Balchraggan.m4a http://obrienwhist...

CP: Save big, just in time for Christmas!

The Canadian dollar is at an 11-year low of US$0.74, which makes it a great time to get a Canadian-made whistle. You'll save over C$50, compared to when the dollars were at par. Below, you can see what I have available for immediate shipping: Three-piece D Rovers in beechwood, bocote, torrified tige...

CP- O'Brien Whistles: Up and Running

I have moved to my retirement home in Campbell River on Vancouver Island- 5 minutes by bike from the ocean. My shop, out behind the house, is at least 4 times as big as the old one. It's a great time to buy a whistle made in Canada because our dollar is around 70 cents US. To sweeten the deal even m...

CP: News from O'Brien Whistles

Here is a photo of the last set of whistles to be made in my Chilliwack shop: http://obrienwhistles.com/sitebuilder/images/bocote_set-462x343.jpg Last month, I started my seventh decade and decided it was time to retire from my day-job as a high school teacher. My Chilliwack shop is being dismantled...

Yes, it's tunable. The black Delrin mouthpiece slides on the top of the body tube.

Re: David O'Brien Low D whistle

Yes- that's me 6 years ago. I think the whistle has improved since then, with a stronger bell note.

CP: New batch of whisolos

I will be ordering some piccolos, because I recently sold the last keyed whistle, or whisolo, that I had in stock. So if you have been wondering whether to try one, here is your chance. Let me know, please, so that I can order enough piccolos. Here is a video of a fellow in Scotland demonstrating on...
