Re: Daye pipes

I can give an opinion of which to key choose-- D, mainly because of the vast body of available recordings, written music, tutorials, and live sessions that you can participate in, with an instrument in that key. Re: Big Oil Hates Pipers

The photo is pretty small, I'm not certain that is Arundo Donax. There is a reed that closely resembles AD, I have run across it many times in Florida and this photo resembles that reed.

Re: New guy

Hello Kevin, Don't belive them. Irish piping is far the most finicky and impossible to learn instrument ever invented. First, you must learn making reeds, otherwise you are just struggling unless you have an in-house reedmaker. All the Best! Now, now... no need to give the poor fella a coronary... ...

Re: New guy

The switch from Highland to Uilleann pipes isn't as difficult as some may have you believe. Time, patience and practice is the name of the game... and help from an experienced tutor. :D

Re: Volcanic Ash

It could be a problem if you were piping at 20,000 feet. But not all flights are affected by the ash cloud, my mother in-law flew over to see us when all other flights had been cancelled . Apparently flying by broom is not affected by the ash cloud. RORY Seen it coming but still good :D Ditto.

Re: Announcing: Great Northern Irish Pipers' Club Tionól 2010!

Great weekend!

Thanks Tommy, GNIPC, Skip, Ivan and David.

Hope Patrick, Larry (nice to see you guys again) and Jamie (I'll get to working on that reed in a couple of days) have a safe and easy trip home.

Yup, great weekend, nice tug boat. :)
