Re: Finbar Furey
I had a chance to meet Finbar in New York when he came by with his group late last year. I told him Paddy Keenan shows up once in a while. "Listen, " he said, in a low, just between us, voice, "Next time you see him tell him that Finbar says hello and tell him that the shoulder is all...

Finbar Furey in New York
Finbar and The Boatmen played a gig in Yonkers, NY last night. Mostly songs along with guitar, banjo and a whistle. Only a few pipe sets. Afterwards, I asked him about a jig he played and he said it was called " Gary's Gone To Australia" and he really liked it. So did I but I haven't had a...

Re: Keeping Time When Playing
Or...., if it's a jig you just keep saying "bicycle" and if it's a reel you just keep saying "motorcycle." Then again, I have been known to forget what I'm riding at the moment!

Our New Website
The Hudson River Pipers Club (New York) is celebrating its second anniversary by putting together a modest web site (no threat to St. Pat's Uilleann Obsession site) about its members and activities. We have a great group that loves the pipes, the music and going to as many piping events as we can. W...

Egan Chanter
Yep, and Paul took the nice photo. He also sent me a great DVD of BK knocking off a few tunes on it at his workshop. Paul gets around. Thanks again. Pipey

Egan Chanter
Hey, Beau, don't blow my cover. Actually, I have my Harley "pipes" tuned to a very pleasing flat drone and I think Mr. Egan's chanter will blend in nicely. I have to keep an eye on young Jack, above, from Ashville. He has a pipe making tool box with enough stuff to rebuild a Harley. Best,

Bellows Padding
I had good luck at the auto accessory store, as well. I bought a large chamois mittten used for polishing and waxing, I cut it into two nice pieces and velcroed one to my existing pad. It's very comfortable. Cheers.

Egan C Chanter
Does anyone in the US northeast have an Egan 7-keyed chanter, preferably in C, or know of someone who has one? Or, does anyone have the measurements for an Egan C? Please PM me with any responses. Many thanks, Pipey

I believe Isaac won three All-Ireland competitions in one day a few years back -- Flute, Whistle and Pipes. A nice guy along with his talent. Best, Pipey

Pipe Case
I'm also looking at a viola case. Some of the pipers at the recent Tionol had them. They said they easily removed some internal components and the case carries a full set. ProTec seems to be a well known brand. Here is a link to Amazon which has them. http://www.amazon.com/Protec-Standard-Viola-Blac...

Rogge C#
Among those who have played my Rogge C# chanter are Benedict Koehler, Jerry O'Sullivan, David Power and, at the recent East Coast Tionol, Pat D'Arcy. All of them spoke highly of its sound. I have a nice clip of David playing it at a recent meeting of the Hudson River Pipers Club. Happy to post it if...
