Re: Help - Beloved Sindt Head Stuck On Body - Solved!

Got it with a combo of above carefully applied techniques; then cleaned the gunky deposits out of the head; no damage anywhere. I guess when you really do play primarily one whistle every day you tend to leave it in one piece tuned where you want it. Checked other metal whistles (Copelands, etc.) an...

Re: Help - Beloved Sindt Head Stuck On Body

Thanks all; I have a friend who's a master of tricky joinery and have asked him to reverse that skill for this. Worst case, it's frozen in the position I've been playing it in for the last 5 or so years. Yes, I'm much more relaxed now after the 12 year old Macallans.

Help - Beloved Sindt Head Stuck On Body - Solved; thanks

First time this ever happened where I can't move the head at all. I had just wanted a minor adjustment for comfort and it wouldn't budge. Tried a bit of Vaseline and then pull and twist with rubber gloves - nothing. Any ideas? I should add it's a brass head stuck to a sterling silver tube. Thanks.

Re: Sindt prices....

Just saw a revelatory video about kids in Paraguay playing instruments made from recycled junk, cellos, violins, etc. Now that's amazing and refreshing. Well, I guess we're already there what with plumbing tubes and the like for whistle bodies.

Re: Sindt prices....

I think that's a very reasonable price for such a great instrument. It's silly money. A nice whistle but that sort of money is way out of proportion. I drive a Subaru - practical great value cars for the northeast and I love them; yet I see others tooling about in cars with gizmos and gadgets and e...

Re: Sindt prices....

These things just run in cycles - John Sindt is the new Patrick O'Riordan at least with respect to their seeming indifference to the secondary market. I've been very fortunate to have obtained a bunch of O'Riordan Travelers both from Pat direct and on the market and got all but one at his regular un...

Re: New York, where to buy?

Not sure if Rod Baltimore is there, but it was on 48th street where the other listed shops are - that's the only area I know of in the City.

Re: Irishman - Amazed and Proud.

Philo, great stuff, glad to hear you had a good time. Do you play yourself ? Total amateur, but I try to play a bit every day, keep one in the car and the whole syndrome...repertoire of about 30 tunes, mostly jigs and reels...a slide,,,a fling...handful of airs (one is called a lament, but I won't ...

Philo , there must be some Irish in you somewhere!! Have you ever been to Ireland? If not, you would be more than welcome Be careful or he might arrive on your doorstep with a suitcase! The circle I'm in here in Dublin is great, we've had 5 sessions over the last 10 days, well one was a gig...

Re: Irishman - Amazed and Proud.

I am not Irish, but the music, poetry, literature, and whiskey captured my heart many years ago. When I listen to the pipes, others often say "Oh, you like that funeral music?" At least my daughter shares this love and thinks perhaps there must be an ancestral link somewhere in the past...

Re: For Sale-Wooden O'Riordan (C), Brass Copeland (G)

Was that 3 whistles? Only saw 2 up top. Anyway, I hadn't realized anyone else also had my 2 favorite G whistles on the planet - Copeland and O'Riordan Traveler (if it is indeed the anodized Traveler series). Best of luck with the sales.

Re: Mini-review of Humphrey Low E, Low C and high D+ whistles.

Sorry for going a bit off topic, but I also have the Sindt silver/brass/delrin high D and it is easily my very favorite go to every day for almost 5 years now favorite whistle. Aside from using it for size comparison, what do you think of it?

Re: Favorite players - Instruments, not artists!

high D = Sindt sterling/brass/delrin
travel D = Parks 3-piece
Bflat/A = O'Riordan Traveler
G = Copeland; O'Riordan Traveler

Players are actually hard, because I like anyone better than me, who are far too numerous to note...

A pleasure listening to the playing; the high D Gandalf has me a bit excited and here I thought my WHOA had been cured. Materials? Nickel or sterling? Delrin or blackwood?

All great ideas; but, you noted "camping;" perhaps a Parks 3-piece PVC whistle?
