Re: Possible Sale Davy Stephenson B half set
Davy Stephenson made very good pipes he had lessons and was a friend of Peter Hunter, reeded up properly they will play a dream, Sam Lawrence should be able to key and reed the chanter up with no problems at all, any decent reed maker should get the chanter singing, chanter could be of the Coyne des...

Re: C chanter: question
Davy Stephenson was very good Pipemaker, Corrol was taught by Davy who rated him as a good Student, I think Davy had some designs and help from Peter Hunter they were friends from what I remember, it will probably be very close design to what Sam Lawrence C Chanters are as he got a lot of Peter Hunt...

Re: Up chanter help
I would get it playing first, black wood chanters always sound a little more strident than ebony, put a sound sample up and start the biding at £300-400 the Hevia concert chanters play quite nicely, best of luck.

Re: Seamus Ennis's pipes or not ?
Well Fergmaun if remember rightly, I've played along to this tune on CD with a Brendan Ring B chanter a couple of years back and it was bang on in pitch, the chanter was loaded with a elder reed in it, :o makes a nice B chanter dos brendan. I'm sure the chanter was 16inch or there abouts, all the be...

Hi Guys
I think you may find the chanter played on the u-tube clip is actually a B chanter and not the old Coyne C# chanter, just a thought.
cheers,
stew.

Re: Lathe Question for the pipemakers
BzzzzT, you say you have worked on a graduate wood lathe already, :-? all I work on is a small modified record lathe with speed control, you don't need a gun drill to bore out a chanter, the guys of the past used a threadle lathe or a modified one and they could make beautiful looking pipes, fancy l...

Re: From A Very Satisfied Customer
Jims, concert chanter is a take off of the P.Hunter banjo blaster chanter if I'm correct, its a 14.5 inch stick, I.d much prefer to have the real thing from Sam & Peter for probably less. all the best.

Re: Narrow Bore D?
You can play narrow bore D and concert D chanters on the same set of drones, but you will have to tune the drones to either chanter, as each chanter plays at different pitches of D, a concert D chanter can play at a sweet low volume if the reed is adjusted correctly, I don't think a narrow bo...

It may be the reed needs a scrape and clip, whats the back D like? please note don't interfere with the chanter its self, your very lucky it only has a C# problem that can be put right, Come on then!! how much was the chanter from the Car Boot if you don't mind? all the best.

Re: vPipes Update
They loaded with reverb their not reproducing a true sound of a chanter with a reed, the piper is playing a recorded sampled notes its a speaker that makes the sound, :poke: for goodness sake. I don't even know why there even allowed to call them pipes when its a digital recorded sound from a speake...
