Something that was recently posted on the woodenflute list by one of the Big Names: put a dab of Blue Tack (this is the glueless mounting putty that is used to stick this on walls, fridges, etc) just beyond the far side of the embouchure hole. I have both an M&E and a Seery polymer. I've never oiled the bore on either for fear it would damage the plastic over time, but if anyone has oiled a polymer instrument, I'd be interested in hearing from you how it worked and what difference (if any) it made in the sound.

Without actually seeing you hold the flute, I can't give specific advice. However, here are some pointers that may help. --Never grip the flute tightly.
