I believe he stopped offerng the Standard sometime last year, maybe '04. For what it's worth, I contacted him a few months ago and, at that time, he said he would still make the old "standard" model upon request (same for the split embouchure). I got the impression that he still believed ...

Fortunately, I have now switched from campaign to countdown. Early registration has been delivered and the calendar has been cleared.

If we had a "Snoopy Dance" emoticon, I'd be tempted to use it.

Now, I have six months to seriously reduce my dependency on the "dots"

Hey Folks,
I have just received an email from Judy Knorr (Augusta Information Coordinator) stating that Mike Rafferty will be the flute instructor.

My campaign for a week off in the West Virginia hills begins today.

Nothing terribly disappointing (and yes, I'm very thankful to have people to give me gifts). I did get an Enya CD from my sister in law -..... My sister-in-law got me the first season of Northern Exposure. (Ed is sorta a hero of mine.) I bought myself (with christmas money) an bansuri in F/C. Nothi...

Hey Jim,

Check out this clip from "FolkStreams"

Gravel Springs Fife and Drum

It's very rural, very bluesy, and very cool.

I am a lefty who plays right-handed. Never really gave it much thought. I also play guitar right handed. I have been avoiding 'Essential Guide' since I am prone to allowing myself get bogged down in details, and I have learned it's best to avoid that particular temptation altogether. I can, however,...

Well, I gave the Bloom of Youth clip a listen (Joey begins about 29:30 for those who want to fast forward. Seemed like a good kid.) I was able to identify the "bubbly" stuff. Didn't put me off too much. I suppose any technique can be overused in the course of a tune, album, or career. I li...

I also tried the "full piper grip", with the same conclusions than you. I just use it on big bansuris. I'm using full piper grip on my small Dizi(s). The tight hole spacing makes me want to come at them more perpendicular. I've tried my D flute with LH piper, but the weight of it causes m...

I like ocarinas. Haven't gotten around to getting one yet though. I've been wondering if I could get Charlie Hind ( http://www.hindocarina.com/index.html ) to make me a double ocarina with "low D" on one side and "d" the other (one note cross-fingered). Then I would be able to pl...

WhistlinBob, As a newly afflicted harmonica player (for which I blame Steve), I find solace in the fact that harmonica is represented at the Fleadh. In fact, it seems to attract a full field across the age groups. Noel Battle is 2004 All-Ireland Senior Champion for Mouth Organ. Here in the countrysi...
