Re: Looking for penny-chanter clips

Yes I did, Davey, thanks for mentioning it. He's got three early player videos there, talking about how to get the thing to souid, how to go into the second octave, and some how-to's for tuning, reed adjjustment, etc, but nothing of how they sound being played, reather than "this is how you wor...

Looking for penny-chanter clips

Still kicking the pipes idea around (can't seem to completely talk myself out of it, haha). Does anybody have access to some good clips of the David Daye's penny-chanter with or without the drones? I'd like to get a good representation of how they sound. Of course, I'd prefer that the recording be b...

Oh, and thanks for the great comments on the flute, Barry. I'm really going to miss it, but it needs playing more than I need to keep it, lol.

Favourite Flute: Are you out there?

I just got a PM from you about my flute. Unfortunately, you've got PM's disabled, and I can't answer you. Please turn your PM's back on and let me know, or contact me with other contact info.

Re: FS: Casey Burns curly boxwood Pratten D flute

Thanks for the update Avery. I didn't know who had it before Barry. It is indeed a lovely flute. I'll miss it, but really it should be in the hands of someone who will play it.

FS: Casey Burns boxwood D flute SOLD

I've had this flute for about two years, and it's time for it to go to a new home. Casey tells me that it was made sometime around 2004, and that it is definitely from his curley boxwood stash that was harvested in the 1980's. I traded Eilam for it, and he had it from Barry (greenspiderweb). This is...

Re: RIP Mike Rafferty

Sorry I missed seeing this earlier. Mike was my teacher the first time I went to Augusta Irish week. I learned so much that week, and will always cherish the time I had to learn from him. I'm sure that my tone at the time wasn't worth hearing, but he never talked down to me acted as if I was a burde...

Cool! Life-size pictures of Casey. Now I have something to put out in my garden next spring (the drought killed everything this year).

BTW, I'm really enjoying the new flutes, Casey.

Re: Augusta Flute Group?

Wish I could make it, but having a baby plays hell with your discretionary income, lol. Cuts into your session schedule, too. On the other hand, now I get hugs, and I get to read stories, and wrassle on the floor. :D :D :D

Re: Flute or Low D Whistle

Yes, indeedy. Casey makes a first-rate flute, and his folk flutes are a great value. Additionally, he puts the same amount of work into the bore and tuning of his folk flutes as his higher-end flutes. Give him a call, you might find that he has some ready, or almost ready. While you're waiting on yo...
