Tutor books for children????
So... I'm off to see my daughter and her children for crimbo, and last time i visited her two daughters had recorders. The beautiful thing was that my youngest grand daughter had manage to dismantle one - i mean fipple everything!!! She obviously wasn't impressed!!! :D So i bought two Sweeton...

Re: whats happening with sindts
Yeah, being new to the forum I prolly shouldn’t have rambled on and on expressing my opinion on the topic. So HIIII YAAAAHHH!!!!! :D I think the thing was suggesting that John should expand his operation. Having someone other than John making a Sindt? It just doesn't seem right. And now someone wil...

Re: whats happening with sindts
I would presume that there's a list that John has told people already that he's going to make their whistles, and maybe given them a estimate on when they'll be made, and then the other list which he hasn't. I would keep a saved search for Sindt on eBay - you never know when your luck will hit. Even...

Re: So many whistles, where to keep them
As MTGuru said...
I use a big glass vase. Looks like a giant tumbler.
Vases are really nice as you can get them any size, shape, colour, etc.. You can really give your whistles a nice pretty home that matches (or clashes) with their surroundings.

Re: latest e-bay prices
Already up to $515. That's a pretty good hourly rate for a whistle maker.Loren wrote:The positive outcome of the high prices in this case, is that it appears to have stimulated Michael to make a whistle or two, one of which is now on eBay, direct from the maker.

Re: latest e-bay prices
Well any of the ones I tried, blew easier than the Sindt and more sweetness. The Sindt has a more focused tone with a hard edge to it and needs a bit of extra push. Here is an impression of the two, two distinct voices but no nastiness in either, both capable of doing the job well. Thank you ever s...

Re: latest e-bay prices
An easier, freer player than the Sindt (though by a small margin) and with a sweetness the Sindt lacks. My Improved is certainly a free-er blower, takes much more air than the Sindt, as to sweet, that is something i could never describe it as. It has quite a harsh upper register that my ears percei...

Re: latest e-bay prices
I have one of "these" in my whistle vase. I would gladly trade 25 of them for my Sindt. Not in the same league, whatsoever, IMHO.MarkP wrote: for which you could have bought 25 of these

Re: Are you a musician?
Joking aside, i think it all comes down to how others perceive what one does. If others accept that what you're doing with your instrument is playing music then i would say you're a musician. If, when you get up at the open mic, everyone goes outside for a cigarette (even the non-smokers), then i wo...

£334... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141123347317? ... 1438.l2649
It really does look like the accepted market value of these whistles is at least £300.

Re: Are you a musician?
A musician is someone who plays music. Classical is just one form of music, and taken as part of all music, classical is tiny in comparison to other genres. Just because someone doesn't play classical, or doesn't read music, or doesn't have a phd in musical theory, doesn't mean they're not a musicia...

They look gorgeous. If i wasn't totally into my Sindt i'd just have to buy one from the looks alone.
