Got the wood bug
Just got my first wood whistle (a Bleazey in G) - Okay, now I get it! I can feel an expensive addiction comming on. Its not perfect, but theres something about the sound and feel of a wood whistle that cannot be found in metal or plastic. If you dont yet have a wooden whistle, dont get one; once you...

I accidently got a cheap A by putting a Clarke sweetone head on a Generation Bb body. I'm about to sell on Ebay my Dixon PVC A. It sounds great but is too quiet when played with other instruments. Hopefully I'll get more than $20 for it though. Is this duplicatable? Seems that this would be one of ...

Dan, Check the other site I listed above (and here): http://shop.vendio.com/guardcat/store.html I think you can find bamboo here (and metal) for...

I agree, the new aluminium bodied models have the great tone that the PVC models have, but with greater volume. I would have to spend at least three times as much (probably four) to get a whistle that sounded significantly better than my high D. The all PVC models are a bit quiet to play with other ...

I own a recording studio. I recommend and use Shure SM58 over SM57 for flute recording, same cost plus or minus $10 but you get a warmer sound and better for vocals too. SM57 for other instruments not flutes. I do not recommend a condenser over dynamic because they are too sensitive, mostly, and pi...

So here's another one for you. We play (some would say obsess over) an Irish instrument. Most of the songs we talk about are Celtic in origin. So is it in the blood? I'm wondering how many of us are all or part Irish. I don't wish to be too picky, but the Tin or Penny whistle isn't really Irish, ju...
