Re: Compact Flourescents

I've had good results so far. I started using them a couple of years ago and have only lost three so far (which I still have in a box so I can dispose of them in an environmentally-safe manner later). Also, there is a noticeable drop in my electric bills. According to my digital multimeter, my house...

Re: Venus, Jupiter and the Moon

Here's a few using the "Wall" tripod. Pics Slan, D. Neat! :D I like that one of the "Eye". I was pretty bummed about the cloud cover, but it broke at just the right time and I was able to see the night sky. It was beautiful! I was worried as well, because at 5:00 and 5:30, there...

Yeah, that's true, but if you do, make sure it's one of the cheap plastic ones and that you don't tongue every note. We wanna keep it as down-to-earth as possible. :P

Re: Massive Stars Resolved in the Carina Nebula

Thanks for the daily astronomy prompts BTW. It's something I wouldn't have looked at otherwise, but I am getting a bit hooked on these tremendous images. It helps keep things in perspective too on a daily basis. If this site had a 'thanks' scheme you'd get a credit for it  Ditto!

Re: D#

I would use the G whistle and half-hole the second hole from the mouthpiece to get the D#.

That is, unless you're one of the skilled few who can simultaneously vent and half-hole a high D#.

One for Denny

I took this one of Venus and Jupiter in close proximity tonight (11/28/08). My apologies for the quality of the picture, since it was taken with a hand-held digital camera not too far from a street light. I may have to try again in a night or two when they're even closer, but from a darker location ...
