Re: Estonian Torupill

Being half Estonian on my mother's side, I was excited to discover the Torupill. I ordered a set from Andrus Taul a couple of years ago. He makes a very nice instrument with chromatic capability owing to the extra tone holes and also offers 1, 2, or 3 drones. I just bought a traditional one-drone se...

Re: Kelleher Pipe Bags

As far as I can remember (it's been 6 months since I last purchased a bag with blowpipe for an order) it's the standard round leather flap tied onto the end of the blowpipe. Not sure how an acetal blowpipe would differ from wood in that respect, but time will tell.

Re: Kelleher Pipe Bags

I supply Kellerher bags and bellows with the sets I make for customers and I find the bags to be absolutely airtight and so far no complaints from customers. Niall is a very nice guy and responds promptly to queries. I have one of his 'Geoff Woof' style bags here waiting for me to tie a flat set int...

Re: Insights on the quick bounce when playing notes

I think it's something you decide you like and decide you want to try and develop in your own piping. To what degree you bounce your notes is a matter of personal taste. Some like to infuse their tunes with bubbliness a-la the Potts style, others, a little here and there. Others not much at all exce...

Re: Insights on the quick bounce when playing notes

You mean the 'Sean Og Potts' - style bounce as in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFsx39t0EeU That's just a case of relaxing your fingers and literally letting them bounce as you 'strike' the finger back down on the tone hole. To me it's a sort of mix between relaxing and tensing to affe...

I don't want to add to any confusion, but just to say that I found the E-bay listing from Sweden without problem using the item number: 191582936713 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191582936713?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_udlo%3D%26_udhi%3D%26_ftrt%3D901%26_ftrv%3D1%26_s...

If you check under the cover at the back you'll probably find the switch is set to 'evil' mode. You need to set it to 'good'. I believe they were manufactured by the same company that produced Krusty the Clown dolls.

PS Where do I sign up for the Anti-Colonel Fraser Lobby Group? Welcome to the Anti-Colonel Fraser Lobby Group (incorporating the No-Bucks Front). Re: Djura Gaida technique question

Thanks Gajdar. Linsey is an aquaintance of mine from my performing days, but I haven't seen him for a number of years now. Bald Nob is only about an hour's drive from here. There's also another guy who lives locally, who I have arranged to meet up with but been too busy over the Christmas period. In...
