I have green composite ('plastic' being politically or aesthetically incorrect?) Silkstone D and B-Flat whistles and find them to be smooth, consistent and dependable. I would describe the overall sound as 'round'. They do not break up in the higher octave. I believe these are sound acquisitions of ...

New York City offers a variety of good practice places. I live in a high rise apartment building with two separate, spacious (though unheated) garages. The accoustics are great--I get a lot of echo. I can see out, but passersby cannot see in, and it is a joy to watch folks stop and look around for t...

For what it's worth, the documentation that came with my Nikon Coolpix995 suggests that the "VGA" setting (@ 640 X 480 pixels, which yields an image of approx. 3.1 inches X 2.4 inches)is good for "posting on a 13-inch monitor, sending image data via e-mail, or posting on an internet h...

I have had a modicum of success with the following: "It Makes No Difference" (Live Version from the Band's Last Waltz album) seems to work with a plain old Generation 'F', as does "Done With Bonaparte" from Mark Knopfler's Golden Heart and "A Change is Gonna Come" from ...

Whatever the wait may be, it's worth it. Right after I got my 'D' I ordered an 'E Flat'. Upon getting the 'E Flat' I ordered a 'B Blat.' Waiting for a Sindt Whistle gives you something to look forward to. Speaking of which, I think I'll check on the status of that 'B Flat'order........

Ok C& F Folks, here is a year-end brain teaser/trivia question for ya': What classic Bogart & Bacall movie features a penny whistle playing in the last few frames? Clues: The good guys win and Hoagy Carmichael plays piano. You know how to whistle don't ya? Best of the season to everyone, Tom...

Hello and Best Wishes to the C & F folks. I was wondering if anyone out there is using "Transcribe" or other comparable(?) "slow down without lowering the pitch" type software. I have found Transcribe to be a real leg (ear?)up for learning new tunes. Acquiring it over the int...

It is reasonably safe to assume that Don has obtained permission from New York's Finest and New York's Bravest to begin clearing the way to the Blarney Star, which is but 3 scant blocks north of where the Twin Towers were. If not in time for the scheduled artists for this Friday, certainly in time f...

Jim and Vinny: Thanks for your kind words. The events of the past 36 hours put me in a frame of mind somewhere between "The Battle of Aughrim" and "Return From Fingal" (a/k/a "After the Battle of Aughrim". It has been tough to face the magnitude of this loss, the full d...

I'm fine!! See my message in this regard. I want to share photos of what is no longer there with anyone who wants them. I'm culling my albums now. I think I have a few really decent sunsets, which seem somehow fitting. Today was my second brush with an attack on those old leggy beauties. Love to all...

Hello C&F Folk: I work about one block from (what was) the World Trade Center ("WTC"). I was in # 1 WTC in 1993 about 1/2 hour before the bomb went off--I used to do my banking there. I was within 100 yards of it today when the second plane hit. I have worked around and walked through ...

I could not resist the urge to check in and say "hello" to the fine folks that make up the C&F whistle community. The C&F website has been a great spiritual and musical resource for me for a few years now, and I have had the opportunity to establish e-mail contact with a lot of com...
