Re: Hello From Tom D. in Brooklyn

Hello Paul and Phil: It is great to be back in touch. Where does the time go? I hope and trust that all is well with you and yours. If I have my upstate geography right, you gentlemen are now in relatively close proximity to each other. I will send you guys a link to a YOUTUBE video of the Old Gray(...

Hello From Tom D. in Brooklyn

Hello C & F Folks: Well, as I look out off my balcony, I see that large numbers of young folks are being arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge. ('takin' it to the streets.' Seems like old times, for sure.) My heart goes out to the young uns' today, whose prospects are not as bright as those us old gee...

Seek Good Swap for Fine Michael Burke Low E-Flat (Aluminum)

Hello Folks: I have a really nice Michael Burke Aluminum Low E-Flat Whistle, currently listed on his site @ $300. It has the optional--and impeccably engineered--movable lowest finger hole. The circumstance for which I acquired it has changed. I am inclined to swap it for something of comparable val...

Re: TheFluteMaker.com ????

My prior post should have indicated the need for a Philo- OR a Slow Air-level review of the whistle. I am reminded of Slow Air's excellent review, including photos, of the Hudson Winds Conical whistle a while back.

Re: TheFluteMaker.com ????

The $35.00 PVC arrived a day or two ago. It is a fine whistle. It deserves a Philo-level review. However, I lack the requisite insight and erudition so will say only that it a fine whistle for that price and more. Workmanship, weight, feel, sound, bottom, top--all that good stuff is there is good me...

Re: TheFluteMaker.com ????

Or would that be "Tie Yer Own Shoelaces"? I couldn't resist. I'm getting one of the $35.00 ones. The tutorial is pretty impressive. You know you've got a whistle acquisition problem when, on the one hand, you are debating which high end whistles to get rid of because you just don't play th...

Re: MYSPACE PROBLEM - NO MUSIC PLAYS

PROBLEM SOLVED!! My thanks for your fine suggestions. Oddly enough, the problem appears to have corrected itself. When I started up my computer this morning I closed my SKYPE/Web Cam program and the problem went away. I am not sure if there is a causal connection betwen that and the MYSPACE Player N...

Re: MYSPACE PROBLEM - NO MUSIC PLAYS

Thanks for the insights--the one about the blessing and the one about the technical aspects of the problem. I just set up an HP Netbook and (fortunately or other) the player appears and the music is accessible. I notice a new QUICKTIME Icon on my toolbar, the appearance of which seems to coincide wi...

MYSPACE PROBLEM - NO MUSIC PLAYS

For the last few days I have not been able to listen to anyone's MYSPACE page music. On some PC's I have used, the player comes up and nothing plays. On my home PC, the player does not even show onthe page. I was wondering if this due to a problem in my PC or if it is more widespead. Thanks, Tom Dow...

Re: Tully Silver "D" For Sale

Hello Daniel: Well, the boxes are different. Mine has the same hollow fipple pin-hole design. Your decription of the whistle is quite accurate, including the chiff. I have not had time to record anything on it except a very simple version of the Parting Glass. It is not worth posting anywhere, but i...

Hello Philo:

Exceedingly good to hear from you. Let us shoot for a get together prior to Ground Hog's Day, if not sooner.

Be Well,

Re: Tully Silver "D" For Sale

Hello Jerry:

Wow, it is like Old Home Week (What IS Old Home Week, by the way?). I have been away from C & F for too long. I hope and trust that you and yours are well and that you are still cranking out those fine whistles.

Be Well,

Tom D.

Re: Tully Silver "D" For Sale

For sure, this whistle is not shy. It is solid in the low octave and wanting some minding on the high end of the high octave. The sound is a tad brighter than, for example, a wide bore or narrow bore Michael Burke Black Tip Brass-D. Anyway, I am experiencing 'potential seller's remorse' right now. I...

Re: Tully Silver "D" For Sale

I will attempt to record something and put it someplace accessible within the next 48 hours. It is quite likely that whatever I record will not necessarily present the instrument in the most favorable light. Likewise with the Fred Rose that I contemplate posting in about a week. Again, these are fin...

Tully Silver "D" For Sale

Hello Folks: I have not been here for a while. I'm in the process of trimming my collection and hope it is OK to link to an auction.
