Re: D. Quinn Concert Chanter (Sound file)
Can you share your reed and staple measurements? I have an old Quinn and always collect measurements that work -- for my reed-book as extra reference.

What is 'Sri Lankan' ebony? It doesn't look like any ebony I've ever seen. More like a blackwood?

Re: efficient bellows
Hans has good advice. Are you looking for a reccomendation for a particular maker? Or simply what to look for? As Hans mentioned, the 'stroke' makes a lot of difference. This, however, can be a personal thing determined by your size, the size of the bellows, shape of you (and bellows), hinge type, e...

You'd likely have a lot more buildup from smoky pubs. Bleh.

Re: efficient bellows
Not that modern technology isn't great, and not that neoprene doesn't work.. but there's something to be said for sticking with the classic set of leather bellows. A well-made leather bellows will get you through quite some time. They might even outlast you. Perhaps a combination of modern and tradi...

Re: bag size?
I play both a Britton bag and a Row(e)some stamp bag (original). I've also used a custom L&M at the same pattern/size as a Britton bag. I wouldn't not-recommend the larger bag simply based on size and concerns over pressure. In fact a larger bag can be better in terms of simply 'gripping' the ba...

Did they sell, then? For more than the starting bid, I hope -- I would have bought them for more than that.
It'll be interesting to see where they turn up next

Re: Q/K Concert Chanter (1999) Curly Maple Reed:Eamonn Dillon
I think it sounds quite good. A little crisp, but as someone mentioned, it could just as well be the recording. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts and how it holds up to the usual changes (temp/humidity/smoke). The real question regarding the structure of the block it came from, for me, w...
