I prefer happy family movies like this movie.

Read the first Oz book years ago, still have a strange image of a China Country stuck in my head.

Re: Best inexpensive fife
From what I remember, he pretty much sticks with a half inch bore for his fifes up to G. Seems like he is more for the lower registers of the instrument he mentions G and F fifes, but I don't recall seeing them for sale.
Ah, here's the info.

Re: How have your tastes changed?
I think that for the most part I need to find the correct sub group in each field of music. For the most part I dislike popular country music, there seems to be a self selection of sorts that people that like country music, so most of the country music I heard was consistent with that identity. Same...

Re: DNA of UK finally mapped
DNA to me is useful for disease and physical stuff. I am 1/4 french decent, but I cannot think of any culturally French things I do. As far as that goes I probably have more Thai than French in me.

Re: What exactly is this?
Looks to be a band flute with a "cheater" as mentioned above. The mouth piece should be able to be unscrewed (note the keyed screw on the underside) and the flute played as normal. The embouchure looks like it is in good condition, but who knows what is under the metal. Could be fine and e...

Re: Darned Screwy Time (DST)
It's another couple of weeks before we change our time. That's the other thing, it's not even standard. I should be able to look up a place and timezone and know better than +/- 3 hours of what time it is. Last time the government switched the time, the auto update on my computer was such that it d...

What about that match girl? Her family needs some sales income, she leaves new years night, torches the inventory, and never returns. That just seems cold.

I see Cooperman has a student persimmon that may fit my needs: http://www.cooperman.com/fife-news/traditional-bb-model-student/ Is this decent? I would think it is coming from Cooperman. What are your needs? Specific key? Period look? If it is wood, I cannot say anything about Cooperman's student f...

Multi-genre tunes
It seems like most every music book and instrument tutor has a version of "Mary had a little lamb". From there it seems that each instrument and musical style diverges. So I was wondering what tunes could be found in most every style on most instruments. "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht&q...

Looks over at the German and thinks "he's ordering 50 beers?"19. A Roman walks into a bar, holds up two fingers, and says: “Five beers, please.”
