Re: Fave whistles squashed by car

Zen, if you can't get help from Burke for some reason you might try Mack Hoover. I once damaged the end of a Copeland (though not as badly as yours is) and he sorted it out for me within minutes.

Re: Whistle in Space

I've put my brother on the case. So far he's sent me a link to this story:

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/stati ... n_iss.html

No mention of the whistle make but I believe he's still working on that.

Re: Concertina strap?

I have had to punch additional holes in my straps in the past - a nervewracking proposition, indeed. For later concertinas I requested specially smaller handstraps from the maker. It does come down to personal preference. I tend to have one strap slightly looser than the other, though at the moment ...

Re: Camcorders--questions from a complete idiot

Knowing nothing about these cameras except for the abovementioned statement about internal memory, I would vote for the 0MB internal memory and buying a separate card. Internal memory can be annoying as you have to either hook up the camera to the computer directly (thus draining battery or requirin...

Re: Whistle from Ireland??

Make sure your friend doesn't buy any whistle with "Guinness" on the packaging.

And as for two piece Clares, replace the head with a Hoover whitecap and you'll have a great little whistle.

Re: Putting together a Space Station

My brother (who works in the space industry) was so pleased when the final set of solar panels went up. "Finally," he said, "the station looks like all those pins that we've been selling!"

Re: Happy Superbowl Sunday, to those who celebrate

I don't attend SuperBowl parties anymore, as much as stuff like baked olives would interest me. I don't and can't pay attention to a game and when a whole room full of people spontaneously breaks out into hooting and hollering from a dead silence and startles me, well, that's just too much. You nee...

Haven't found it yet, but found a reference to it not being just your imagination:

"Hey, they left their keys in the car. Let's go for a riiiiide!"

Re: Checking on Breakfast from around the World

Um, since I'm working on trying to use up (nearly) everything in the house before buying more, I had an officially-expired-but-still-good pot of locally produced yogurt with cherry topping.

Re: Question re FAFSA (for college students/parents)

I've looked up the tuition rates; about the same as I paid for my school. It can be done. Drill it into her that she will be getting a part time job in her freshman year, and teach her to budget. It's easier to get into the whole "working while a student" thing if you start freshman year, ...

So are mine, but I get a pay stub in the office anyway. Maybe his HR or Payroll office can give him his.

Re: Question re FAFSA (for college students/parents)

It's been a long time since I filled one out, but this says "If you have not yet filed an income tax return, complete and submit the FAFSA using estimated tax information."
