Just out of curiosity does Olwell have a long waiting list or something for bamboo flutes. I'm sure I seen another post where someone was looking for an Olwell bamboo flute.

Well Hobgoblin love a good profit. I wouldn't buy from them myself as you can always do better getting the instrument made yourself, but in answer to your question, No.

You know, to my memory, this has not come up before. I certainly wouldn't want to get into any p2p of any copyrighted material and I gather that would apply to some of the tunes on the Flook recording. Let me look into this. I think I'll end up having to say no. Others feel free to post your ideas ...

I don't know what GHB stands for. Anyway I gather you're saying just find different types of grace notes you might use then practise them?? As for an earlier post, tapping just wouldn't do. It certainly won't give me the sound I'm after although I should use more taps in my playing as well. My aim i...

Thanks for that, Fluti. Just to confirm something mentioned earlier by Scott about grace notes when going down the scale. Say I'm going from B TO A. Would I only use the C as a grace note?? It makes it sound a lot more busy if I cut with the c finger (the first finger on the whistle) and then put th...

You know this brings up other issues for me. When I was thinking about learning tunes with the grace notes in them I realised I haven't learned any tunes like that. I mean I haven't practised as much over the past 2 years, but even when I have been I was just playing the tunes I already know so I ki...

Exercises for grace notes??

Do people do exercises, non tune based practice, to work on inserting grace notes in tunes at will?? I am familiar with cuts to seperate 2 notes, but I cannot just play a grace note wherever I want as I'm not used to it and lose track of the tune after playing it. Can anyone recommend any good exerc...

Re: thanks

I contacted Chris Wilkes about repairing a flute last year, and he said he was only repairing Rudall & Roses at that time. I guess he's very busy. 2 well-known Irish flute players recommended John Dodd to me, and my thanks to dolmen/Mark for that contact address. Oh, that's the guy in Topwind I...

Best recordings of Jean Michel Veillon??

I've got all Veillon's solo albums, but I've been looking at buying some of the older albums of groups he played with like Barzaz or Pennou Skoulm. Can anyone recommend some of the best ones out of the following?? Barzaz "ERC'HONDER" Barzaz "AN DEN KOZH DALL" and lastly "Pen...

Thanks guys. I was avoiding flute makers as they were said to be charging a lot for repairs when I done a search of the archives on these forums.

I might try All Flutes Plus although they'll probably be charging more than getting it done privately.

Flute repairs in UK?

Hi guys, I have a Richard Bilton flute dating from about 1826 - 1956, which I bought at auction a few years ago. It's in nice condition, but I am thinking of selling it and really need to get the keys seen to before it would be in good playing condition. Can anyone recommend a well qualified person ...
