My wife and I have tickets to see them in concert on March 13th!! We're both psyched (I've been able to turn her onto Celtic/Irish/Scottish music recently) - I'm especially looking forward to hearing Joannie Madden on the whistle....I just bought her solo CD with the whistle and it's awesome!! Anyon...

Thank you all for the input/advice - As for tutorials, I did just receive Bill Och's tutorial which seems to be working well for me, but I'm starting to get that "itch" to play more - I even find myself taking my lunch break outside so I can play - All I'm good at is Amazing Grace (good to...

Typical newbie....

That, would be me. :boggle: :boggle: Ok, every time I've tried to run a search for existing threads on my upcoming question I get a proxy error, not sure if it's due to my PC's habit of developing an attitude or if the search function on the site is experiencing issues - Either way, I am hoping you ...

Charlene - Thank you!

Kate - Thank you very much for the insight! I must admit, I made the exact mistake you mention, about slow airs - Can you please suggest (or anyone who reads this actually) any jigs/marches which are well suited for the absolute beginner? Thank you!!!

Arran Boat Tablature??

Hi all - I'm looking for tablature for the Arran Boat song - I cannot find it anywhere I've looked - If anyone has an easy to follow way for me to begin practicing this tune I'd greatly appreciate it - I'm working on "playing by ear" and have been using a combo of play-by-ear and tablature...

Tyg/Spittin - Thanks for the input! I'm actually from CT originally, and lived in Farmington, CT (just south of Avon) - So the drive is something I'm used to - As for MA locations, I'll keep looking - Talasiga - I appreciate your input as well, I was not looking for a tutorial on how to hold the whi...

JEFF_H - I notice you're fairly close to where I live, do you know of any instructional classes in the Central MA area?

If you can comfortably play 'righty' then continue doing so. It becomes more important if you move on to flute or pipes (although some play these 'lefty' as well). This is coming from a 'righty' though and may be 'handist' thinking. There was a thread on this in the pipe forum. So, if I'm intereste...

Thank you very much for the reply! I know it was SUUUUUUUCH a newbie question to ask, but I also know how quickly "bad habits" can be come routine and routine the norm - I figured it was better to ask away here and correct any silliness with my technique before it became a routine - Thanks...

Chris,

I'm in Worcester - I noticed you list "central MA" as well - Do you have links for NH? Or Western MA? I don't mind making a drive, I just wanted to find as many options as possible - Central MA seems to be devoid of just about everything :) :boggle:
