Re: Brass or Silver: SOUND QUALITY & DURABILITY

The metalwork on the earliest known sets is still in working order so I wouldn't bother about the durability. Metal generally lasts longer than wood. A pipemaker worth the title wouldn't use metal for drones other than the little bends in the bass drone and the old makers and the best of the current...

Jimmy's been playing the sax for the best part of 20 years as far as I'm aware.

Re: For Sale- Williams practice set

I don't think I'm asking a lot for this set, Dave charged about this for a practice set back in 2003 and there was a spate of Williams full sets for sale last year all going around 10,000 euro.

Pat,

Why not just go to the archive page and click on download!! You don't need to record the live stream.

Re: Jack Coen & the cream of New York & Philly in 62 & 66

Flagging this up as something for Jack Coen fans is a bit misleading. The cassette is sub-titled "A tribute to Larry Redican" and Jack Coen appears on just one track. It's all very nice music, though. Incidentally, the notes from MacMathuna on the cassette are dated 1989. This is one of a ...

Seamus Creagh RIP

Really sad news on the IRTrad site from Paul de Grae, Seamus Creagh died today.

A wonderful fiddle player, and a very geneous and kind hearted man.

A great loss. RIP

Ben, I'm sorry to hear you're having to downsize. Just to pick you up on the comment about four regulator concert sets, Dave Williams made two that I know of, here's a link to Marc Guilloux's set made around 1982 http://www.pipeshow.net/images/Vignettes%20et%20images%20grande%20taille/Images%20grand...

Pat,

If it was made in 1985, it will be elephant ivory.

Pre- CITES ban, but still might be problematic to export/import outside Europe.

Hmm, It didn't sell for £999, so now it's on sale again but this time at £1,375. Maybe the seller is hoping somebody will make an offer around £1,000? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Antique-Nicholson-Improved-Wooden-Flute-by-T-Prowse_W0QQitemZ350055583279QQihZ022QQcategoryZ10183QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZV...
