Re: Bingamon/Jubilee lower whistles?
I bought the $30 low D when it was a $25 low D and found it very easy to play and finger. My hands are probably average size for a female with short, stubby-ish fingers. It's been a few years since the whistle went to live with a niece, but, IIRC, I didn't even use the pipers grip on the Jubilee whi...

Re: Need ideas for tunable whistles for small Church orchestra
Hi Shelly, welcome to C&F. There are many choices in tunable whistles, plus ways to make others, like Generations, tunable. One fellow who immediately comes to my mind when mellow is mentioned is Mack Hoover <click here for website> . Contact him and tell him what sound you want. Of course many ...

Re: C.P.
I got the Trad and the Narrow Bore versions with a lanyard loop on each. Have to agree with maki -- by far the coolest whistles in my collection. The Trad plays smoothly & easily, as does the NB whenever I remember to breathe, not blow, into the whistle.
Thanks, Mack!

Re: SO disappointed... any tips?
Ah ok, I understand why you started with four whistles now, but if you didn't "blame the whistle" for the squeaks and squawks then why did you choose to buy another whistle (the Dixon)? Bought the Dixon because I didn't want to give up without giving a different whistle a shot -- and on t...

Re: SO disappointed... any tips?
hoopy mike, the 4 whistles were one purchase. I was new to the whistle, not new to music. Blame the whistle? I didn't assign blame at all. I said that I was not happy with the sound of my playing, the 'squeaks & sqawks'. The purchase of the Dixon improved things enough to give the desire to cont...

Re: Whistle key above high D?
Whistling Pops, I enjoy playing a Gen hi G occasionally. It is a kick to see the look on some faces when you can actually make music on such a tiny whistle. I recorded the hi G along with a Reyburn mezzo G once. The combination/contrast worked very nicely.

Re: SO disappointed... any tips?
My first whistles were a tweeked Clark original (not by Jerry Freeman), a Mellow D, an Oak and a Feadog. After ~ 3 months of frustration with squeaks & squawks, I ordered a Dixon polymer (tunable). The ease with which the Dixon played in comparison to the others (particularly the Feadog) was a t...

Mack, I would love to try one of your telescoping whistles! When did you add these to the Hoover inventory?

Re: Busman Whistle owners- what's your opinion?
MadmanWithaWhistle, the best wooden whistle I owned was an Abell. The "most-disliked/dispointing" wooden whistle I owned was also an Abell. Both were actually great whistles, but I considered one 'bad' because it's sound was nothing like I wanted. It had been tailored for someone with a ta...

Re: Just ordered my first whistle a Freeman Bluebird!
Stormie Gail, the Bluebird is an excellent whistle, although you would have also enjoyed the tweaked Sweetone. Hard to go wrong with a Freeman tweaked whistle of any type. FWIW, I will admit the Bluebird is my favorite of all of Jerry's offerings. As a beginning whistler you might like a website cal...
